Question for Devs: regarding English/American accents
In the trailers it sounds like everyone is British or American in the English dub. is this the case?

I really liked in the old stalkers and metros that they had eastern European accented English.

As a Brit hearing my or my cousin (USA) accents in this scenario is a bit immersion breaking, I can play in Ukrainian with subs but it's nice to understand some of the characters.

It's the direction they went with for whatever reason and won't be changed, it's got confirmed a while back.

Psywarvetetan is correct.

We can not choose a dub with accent, only original or eng (and some other languages).

So for the best immersion we probably gonna need to choose original with subtitles.

Will UA language have its own lip-sync?
Was never any way I was gonna play this in english, myself.
Sure hope the Ukrainian dub is decent, though.

Hey! That is the decision made long time ago. I got you that in your case english VO sounds a bit immerse-breaking, but you will be able to switch to Ukrainian VO. And personally I like the english VO. But who cares about my opinion :)

The reason is clear that as soon as Microsoft became a player in the development of Stalker it was always going to be Americanised- English. With Microsoft they are primarily interested in the American market so why have a game in some sort of foreign Ukraine accent?. For me the English voice acting is totally immersion breaking. Hey GSC chasing the Dollar?

This isn't the reason, STALKER was always targeting the western playerbase from the start. Back then it was THQ, an American company, now it's Microsoft, yet again an American company.

I am not disputing the fact that Stalker has always targeted a European player base. As far as I know THQ is primarily a publisher (had thought THQ was a Austrian company?). The difference here is that Microsoft has invested serous money in Stalker 2 and you can bet they would of had some influence in how the game was going to work ie English voice acting. These are just my views and are purely Subjective. The only reliable facts are those that GSC publish (precious few and far between) which leads to a lot of posts purporting to be facts but are really just suppositions.

This is the exact same scenario as THQ. Lots of money being invested, influencing the development and so on, no difference. I think there's no point arguing about "why" when what's done is done. They went with the accents and I think it was a mistake.

Hey brother there is no argument here whatsoever just expressing my view point. THQ (after bankruptcy) was bought out by Nordic games to become THQ Nordic. I am not arguing (a better word would be discussion) about English voice acting other than its a mistake but it is as you say a done deal.

Woke culture could be a possibility.

How? Woke culture would instead go as far as to support total removal of English and accept a game that's Ukrainian only, in support of a country in war or something. What we're seeing here is a company that's made the wrong decision when selecting VO direction.

People keep making nonsensical comments like "The fake Russian accents are immersion breaking" Well, I guess your immersion won't be broken now when we have people speaking with British accents, British actors trying to speak American English or pure, tough guy American dude bro stalkers roaming around the Zone.

The official gameplay trailer that came out three months ago was awful in that regard.

I always preferred playing it in you-know-what, but I guess that's not going to be an option either. I hope that they'll release at least one Ukrainian language trailer so I can hear the voice acting.

There is actually a trailer on steam. If you go the end of the screenshots, there are 3 more trailers, the one for the 2022 release has non-english VO.

I'll just play it with the original Ukrainian and read the subtitles, I can suffer the british accent and if for some reason I get sick of reading subtitles. I played the first games with subtitles so i'm not getting a bee in my bonnet, no doubt if it annoys you enough a mod will crop up at some point, I just want stalker 2 and considering all the disruption the devs have suffered i'm glad we still getting the game frankly.
