We'll improve this a bit in of the future patches, so it hopefully gets a bit clearer ingame.
Then any object that can be interacted with will highlight once you are close. I think we need to improve the highlight, so that it isn't just brighter, but actually animated in a more obvious way (like flashing brightness or outline).
Here 15 months later from Google trying to figure out the same thing. How's that patch going?
Right now i'm leaning towards removing the impact of overcharging from battle completely, and just have it affect the "base action". Then the upgrades can be a bit simplified and clarified, and a small tutorial popup added for explaining how to actually overcharge the gadget. Then each gadget needs to make very clear that it is overcharged. It indicates this already, but i don't think it is clear enough.
