Main menu is dark after game crash and you can not load a save file

Hello Devs,
I really enjoy playing your game, so it's even more unfortunate that I'm having so many problems with it.
The bug I am facing is that the game suddenly just crashes. It is then simply off.
But when I start it up again, the main menu seems to have taken on a “dark veil”. All graphics settings show the minimum and I can no longer select the resolution of my screen (2560 x 1440 px).
There is also no music. When I continue the game, the game tries to load, but gets stuck somewhere in the process and I can no longer get into the game and can only quit it.
I have also tried the “Check files for errors” option via Steam. It also seems to find an error, because it tries to download a file with 1.1 MB. After that I have the problem that the game says 'AkSoundEngine.dll not found'.
What can I do at this point?

Sorry you are having all these problems, AkSoundEngine.dll should be present as part of the installation so if it is missing then I think something might have gone wrong when it installed.

The Steam option Properties/Installed Files/Verify this game's files.. should fix any missing files, although it does sound like you already tried that. I would recommend trying that again, then choose the Browse option on that same page, and check The Brew Barons_Data/Plugins/x86_64 and AkSoundEngine.dll should be present.

If this does not work for some reason I think you might have to uninstall and reinstall the game, or contact Steam support.

I had the exact same problem. Game crashed to desktop suddenly. Upon restarting the game, the title screen was somewhat darker and the settings screen had some minor changes. Which seemed very weird. Like it was a less polished settings screen from an old version of the game.
Anyway, uninstalling and installing again solved the problem and it hasn't happened since.
