How does brewing work?
I am trying to finish the first mission, and I've got a bunch of different results when using apples and prickly wheat (with or without other ingredients); from a 3 star mead to a 0 star trash cider.

Can anyone let me know the exact ingredient # to get crispy prickly beer as requested by the NPC from the first mission?

I think should be able to figure out the brewing gameplay after that. The brewing component just has me confused.

Really enjoying the general atmosphere and world building of the game, but I can't progress without figuring out brewing.

I might have missed something, but to me it appear you have to own a recipe and follow it. "Brewing randomly" basically never works. You can open your "recipes book" on the brewery screen and choose one to pin it to the screen.
In recipes, each ingredient has an "X+" indication, meaning you must put X or more units of it in your brew. but careful: you must make sure the "order of quantities" is the same as the recipe.
By that I mean : if the recipe says 40+ apple, 20+ prickly wheat (not a real example), you have to put more apple than wheat. Otherwise it will fail.

80 apple , 20 wheat => works
55 wheat, 45 apple => fails, even though you technically have "40+ apples, 20+ wheat"

You start the game with a bunch of basic recipes in the book. And if I remember right, you have the recipes you need for the first orders in there. Hopefully, that helps you pass that first hurdle. :)

Thank you. Will need to give it another go.

Love the aesthetic of the game, I just wish the brewing was intuitive and the management component (e.g. for the bar) was a bit more fleshed out.

Replacing the AI audio would also be cool.

I agree with those criticisms, actually. The UI could be more ergonomic, and while AI content is more understandable/forgivable when it's used by a super tiny studio like this, not having it would be better for sure.
But the good sides of the game outweight those issues, IMHO. Hope you'll have fun with it after passing the first hurdles :)

You can brew recipes You didn't unlock as well. You just need to follow the proportions correctly and the game will make the alcohol for You plus reward You with a new recipe for that alcohol. Look up the game guides section, I posted every recipe there is from 5* to 2*. If You need a specific recipe You don't have it's in the guide.

while brewing, you have to follow recipes (even if you dont own them).

If there are multiple ingredients, you need to have ATLEAST the number required and more of ingredient 1 than ingredient 2 and more ingredient 2 than ingredient 3.

example with 2 ingredients :
The "Crisp prickly lager" ask for 35 prickly wheat and 20 apple.
You have to put ATLEAST 35 prickly wheat and ATLEAST 20 apples.
And you HAVE to use MORE prickly wheat than apples.
It can be either 80 prickly wheat / 20 apples or 51 prickly wheat / 49 apples. or anything in between but NEVER more apples than prickly wheat.

examples with 3 ingredients :
The "Wild apple brandy" require 35 apples, 25 ivy grapes and 20 honey.
you can use :
55 Apples, 25 grapes, 20 honey.
51 Apples, 25 grapes, 24 honey.
41 Apples, 39 grapes, 20 honey.
35 Apples, 33 grapes, 32 honey.

In each case you use more apples than grapes and more grapes than honey.

ps : you don't have to follow the EXACT numbers i posted, just remember the general idea of ingredient 1 > ingredient 2 > ingredient 3.

it would be nice if we could do small batches too, having to fill it each time is kinda annoying
From what I have understood in playing so far the way it works is that as long as you have the %, this is not the same as the total amount that is put into the mixer, at or above the required ratio for each ingredient (I have been throwing them in at 10 at a time till it matches) it will count after that your focus is on matching the ABV (I do one full dump of the yeast which get it to 12% in most cases for the higher value then just tap to raise it in smaller amounts till its just inside the required min and max values) to what is required in the contract order as long as its just above the min or just below the max for distilling and fermenting + distilling respectively.

They won't accept orders made when they are not inside the ranges given, from there you can just remake the orders if they are asked for again with the same values via the my products page as long as you have all the ingredients and it will automate the entire process.

Everything else just dump it into the bar as per the theme you are going for that is 0%+ in bonus value gained for your passive income each full day cycle.

There are upgrades you can buy that will increase your batch quantity so you get more per harvest of each ingredient to sell as its asked for and to as said then dump the rest into the bar.
