VIVE Console for SteamVR

problem with vive console (starts and closes immediately)
as the title says, ive tried new drivers (nvidia 4090), reinstalling vive console, disconnecting cables and restarting the pc to then connect them again, even the beta for vive console (on steam)

anyone having these issues?

can you try to install it from vive.com?

Nope, I tried and it fails repeatedly because the update/download server disconnects

so i found a fix: open your eventviewer in windows and check for an error under windows logs applications. something along the line:

Faulting application name: WaveConsole.exe,

there is another file mentioned. in my case: Faulting module name: amdlvr64.dll

thats part of my AMD chipset driver. specifically the onchip video driver (which i dont use and dont care about) - reinstall whatever contains that file.

This problem can be caused by the amdlvr64.dll file. Try reinstall the chipset drivers for the motherboard, or rollback to previous.

Note that while I also was having that issue with amdlvr64.dll and waveconsole.exe, it was re-enabling internal GPU on my 7800X3D + Asus TUF X670E that got it to work.

I confirmed that was it with multiple back-and-forth tests.

enabling integrated graphics in bios fixed this issue for me. I am on 7800x3d/4090

Thanks so much for your help, It's working now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Step #5 worked immediately for me
just to add to the thread, Just got a cheap vive pro 2. Also using a 7800x3D and nvidia graphics but planning on upgrading to a 9070XT or something very soon. I'm running wireless. I have the annoying issue IF my integrated graphics is not enabled, I can't launch the Vive Console (it crashes before load like the OP thread). I also would have the issue when running wireless that I'd get error 209 and compositor disconnected errors and the display on headset wouldn't even start. So I had to do a pretty annoying workaround:
-keep integrated graphics enabled on the BIOS
-open device manager so I could see both graphics cards enabled (keep the device manager window open!)
-turn on the vive pro 2 headset wireless
-launch vive console -> and it should load... says searching for headset, check cables connected etc etc
-BEFORE it finds the headset i quickly disable the integrated graphics on device manager (right click and disable, in popup window click ok)
-then steam VR connects and i can play

very annoying having to keep integrated GFX enabled at all!
