It was fun, I liked that you can play through the game quite quickly so you can play in small bursts. There was enough content to still be engaging to play through multiple times to get the different endings and achievements. A playthrough with my friend would take about 30 mins, but that is with us chatting and pausing decisions, you can probably get through each playthrough a lot quicker if you are playing on your own. Took us 15 hours to get all endings and achievements.

The acting can be a little bit over the top at times, but it has the effect of making the game feel fun and relatively light-hearted despite having dark topics like murder and suicide, so I didn't mind it.

It has some nice features for ease of use like being able to press tab to skip scenes that you have seen before, being able to see any evidence you have picked up from prior playthroughs and being able to freeze the screen on dialogue options so you can take longer to choose, which is particularly useful if you are playing with other people or streaming where you might want to discuss the choice, or if you just want a bit longer to decide.

I played with my friend over discord, we play a lot of FMV games together and we both found this one enjoyable.

Get it, get it now (whilst it's still on sale, in case you are still on the fence about it; and otherwise get it anyway, because it's great). Stumbled upon this game via the recommendation of someone whose opinions on other video games agreed enough with mine that I thought it worthwhile to take a punt and I was not disappointed.
The characters are eccentric (and pretty horrible people for the most part), and as you go through the game and unlock all the dialogue options you learn more and more about each one.

The investigation takes place during a 'family quiz'. Usually there's 2-3 choices (whom to talk to in any given round, how to respond to whatever's happened previously), every couple of minutes or so. The choices do influence the results (i.e. whether a character will reveal 'actionable' evidence or just flesh out themselves and the narrative further).
It took me 1 run through to realise that although the aim is to "find the poison, find the proof, find the killer", the main part of the detective work is not just to ask people what might seem like 'the obvious question(s)', but rather base your choices of response on the character and what (you think) will make them talk.

I would disagree with statements in negative reviews claiming that 'random choices will lead to the same outcome' as well as 'evidence you find does not alter the gameplay at all'. In at least the majority of cases, once you get a feel for the character, it'll become easier to pick your way through the conversations in the various rounds (in order to have more success gathering evidence on your first try at any given conversation - though I have to say, I also rather enjoyed running through pretty much all the options, just to see how things play out otherwise, because I found the entire game rather entertaining). With respect to the second statement, as far as I've noticed actually identifying the poison, rather than multiple-choicing it becomes easier, and more evidence options become unlocked/accessible through the conversations .

Everything can be skipped (though the game will warn you (sometimes not quite truthfully it seems) if you're trying to skip through a scene with new dialogue), but as I already said above, unless I'd already exhausted literally every possible option for a given round, I honestly enjoyed watching all the various little scenes in response to the various prompts, even if they weren't doing anything to advance the 'main' mystery per se.

There's honestly not that much more to say - I thoroughly enjoyed it, the actual crime makes sense (yes, for some of the potential suspects it was quite obvious fairly early on that they weren't going to be the murderer, and maybe the resolution to their arc could've been handled slightly differently), loved the occasional references to British media, all in all 8.5/10; would definitely buy and play again.
