Ghost walk amulet, am I missing something?

I'm on ng+ and opted for the amulet but I can't say there's much of a difference. I feel like I've always been able to dodge fury attacks (when they light up red right?) what exactly is this item doing other than taking up a slot and weight?

Ghost Walk allows you to i-frame fury attacks (be within their hurtbox but avoid damage by timing your dodge). Normally you can only dodge in the sense of being completely out of the way of the attack. It's only a situationally useful item, I recommend only using it if you really rely on dodging a lot.

I didn't take any boss items in my first run because I was constantly needing ergo (I sucked). I'm kicking myself for not taking the sword now. Thanks for the help.

Normally when you dodge you get iframes, which are disabled for the fury attacks. This amulet gives you iframes when you dodge them.
But you can always just get out of the range or parry or TDS them, so the usage of the amulet is questionable.
