I see. Well, I'm glad people are liking it. I look forward to it leveling out a bit and reading some more user reviews.
I wouldn't recommend this game at all at full price. Get it on gamepass or whatever on sale.
I actually enjoyed Dark Souls 2. It's the worst of the bunch, but still better than 90% of games outside of FromSoftware. Soul memory though? Damn, that was rough...
I will say FightinCowboy appears to like this game and I trust his opinion quite a bit.

Really? Because I feel that, while DS2 wasn't perfect, it was far closer in spirit to Demon's Souls than any of the games Fromsoft has made since. It certainly didn't "pervert the core design philosophy" of the series and I'm struggling to imagine what you mean by that.
