Elden ring for sure though. I didn't enjoy Wo Long, since boss fights were pretty much parry or die and it's parry mechanic isn't as great as Sekiro's, plus having played Nioh 1 and 2.. Just couldn't really get into Wo Long sadly.
I think wo long has that parry/block function with a stamina bar so does require some skill in order to successfully land an attack, which I belive all these games have
It looks like Dark Souls started the trend on this mechanic if I'm not mistaken
WO LONG I want to try, but the Steam rating made me a bit cautious as they made NIOH which is amazing (harder overall imo); but this one was the Three Kingdoms which is a cool theme. Team Ninja though usually has the most focus on how important your overall build is, but also uses the old-skewl drop method (same thing drops with differing stats so you need to constantly level gear + yourself)
Sekiro is close-ish, but is quite different. Even more parry focus, and has some gimicks you need to learn, but ends up being like a "Samurai Simulator" where you walk around feudal Japan sword fighting dudes and monkeys. Fun game - and has some unique platforming a la grappling onto buildings, branches and stuff to fight/avoid enemies.
Lies of P is like 35% bloodborne, with 15% sekiro, with 30% dark souls, and then the last 20% is it's own space. There are a number of things that will make the standard souls player go "Ohh, I wonder what that means later" with regards to a sort of hidden stat or two. Also mostly able to just use whatever since there isn't exactly "armor" (you get costumes with no weight and arm components as your actual gear). Can also take weapons apart and combine the handle with blades, so you can have a dagger with a scythe head, or a huge pole arm with a random police baton at the end.
TL:DR - In order, I would say :
- ER
- Lies of P
- Sekiro
- Nioh (if you haven't tried it)
- Wo Long
Also - honorable mention would be Hellpoint if your interested in Soulsbornes, but want something more akin to Dead Space theme wise.
If you want to try Wo Long, just get gamepass for one month, play it for that one month or however long till you decide you don't like it or do. If not, then odds are you will still have the option of refunding + canceling the sub. So no real loss! Except your time.
Monster Hunter Soul's like to you ?
Lies of P is more similar to Elden Ring, but they are games that play in completely different leagues. Lies of P has been developed by a small team, it's an AA videogame at most, while Elden Ring was a super-production developed by one of the greatest and praised developer companies currently (which by no means Elden Ring is a perfect game, it has its flaws). You can't expect in Lies of P the same depth, movesets, environments, weapon/armor variety as Elden Ring has.
- Initially difficult (or super hard depending) game that relies on the ability to understand one mechanic but is satisfying to play then Sekiro
- Want the massive version of Dark Souls that's not confined to one single location but various unique places then get Elden Ring (probably the most accessible FS game)
- If you want what is essentially a classic Dark Souls experience but with a Pinocchio theme then play this game
All in all none of these games are really the same and aim to deliver a difference souls experience, might as well get them all tbh (tho if you haven't already played, get Nioh 1/2 over Wo-Long).
