perfect parry
does anyone else think the pp should be a little looser?
i feel the timing is like a milisecond to strict especially with how erratic someof the enemies are i can never get the timing quite right on half the enemies

what made sekiro so great is that the parry was super loose and the move set of enemies was super well done

You're speaking to the choir here. Pretty much everyone agrees the perfect parry/guard system isn't really feeling "Right". I'd like it to, but meh, it's passable.

its a super easy fix like add like 1 or a half extra tiome for perfect frame its extremely strick for how random enemy movesets are
im fighting the mad clown right now and his moves are so telegraphed but chaining pps is insanely hard for no reason but the amount of frames that you have to execute it in and dont even get me started on the black rabbit fights i had to cheese the ♥♥♥♥ out of that fight because PP was useless and you have 3 other dudes completely ganking you
if they could fix PP this game would be so much better atm its kinda ruining it for me
especially with how good it could be!

You know of any soulslike games outside of FromSoft that have a good perfect parry?

Bayonetta (perfect Dodge), Metal Gear Rising, Metroid Dread comes to mind without thinking further.

Stranger of Paradise executed both of it's perfect parry mechanics flawlessly.

That game and Sifu also have a well implemented dodge that allows you to reposition yourself.

ok i'm gonna sound like an ass here but the mechanic is fine.

maybe it's because i'm a fighting game player, but it's called perfect parry.
perfect, meaning on frame. it's like in Soul Calibur you have Guard Impact which are green, and red guard impact are "on frame" it would be ridiculous to ask to remove the red one and make them easier. makes no sense.

Same thing for this game, you can block, some handle have parry fable art and if you press block on the right frame of the attack you "perfect" parry it, if it was slightly off it wouldn't be perfect right?

yeah i feel ya man i wish the timing is a lil bit forgiving

but hey if that doesnt work running away and dodging is viable for me anyway

With how much some of the bosses track you, it would be nice if we had safe counters for their red attacks. In Sekiro you have mikiri and jump, in Nioh you can use your spirit, in Tsushima you can dodge red attacks but this game basically says frick your iframes lol. And there are bosses that have multiple different red attacks.

i get where your coming from but the issue is we have all played games that balanced these mechanics almost perfectly; therefore, trying to acclimate to this game is frustrating. there is a clash of philosophies.

you either
make enemies super telegraphed and make parrying extremely tight (maybe adding a sound que or visual que)
or
you make enemies unpredictable and make parrying more forgiving

this game is in the middle with a lot of enemies being hard to predict and the parry being really tight
so it makes it far less rewarding
not to mention playing strength is super annoying because almost all the heavy weapons have a TWO attack charged heavy so not only do you have to juggle perfect parry depleting stamina but you have to find a window to land TWO extremely slow attacks to capitalize on you performing well these things clash and that wouldnt be an issue if poise was a thing or the parry mechanic was better
in sekiro if you perfect parry their posture down they are instantly opened up to a visceral attack in this game you have to struggle to land a CHARGED heavy its unmanageable on a lot of enemies and bosses ESPECIALLY when playing strength builds.

I am famously bad at most games that need parrying, with one exception: Jedi Fallen Order and the sequel, Survivor. They have difficulty settings that give a bigger parry window, so no matter if you are a lightning reflex parry bro, or .... well, the opposite, like me, the game offers you the choice. You can change the setting mid game too, the majority of the games I was fine on standard, but some bosses or encounters I struggled with, I reduced the difficulty.
