Murphy Toy?

So I got the murphy puppet and tried to give it to the kid at the window in the earlier area who keeps saying he wishes he could play with Murphy again but he won't take the doll. Is the quest bugged? Or do I have to give the doll to someone else?

Oh yeah my fault, the whistle not the toy. When they get that, they go back and then use it from the items menu

Ahh okay, well I didn't get a whistle from the boss. Unless you aren't counting the tutorial boss. I'm in the factory now.

You should have got something, make sure when you go to items, you go to the right section. It should absolutely be there. If you're already in the factory, then you skipped it. You can hang back and also when you use the stargazer, there's an icon next to where the quest is. If it's there, that's proof you got

It's in key items, its there.

I had to look it up, you have to interact with a bench in the boss room to get it. I hadn't looked at it since it had a white glow like it was lore instead of the blue glow items give off

Ah got ya didnt realize you had missed it in the boss room itself.

Welp. My game shat itslef and i got no whistle i talked to thoma i killed the guard and there is no whistle at the bench so yeah there goes my questline.

I have the exact same problem. Not sure how the questline got bugged or if the DEVs will fix it. Those items (Whistle/Toy) are not on the bench and I cannot progress. Are they needed later in the game?

It's not NEEDED, it's just a little side quest and the kid gives you a consumable item if I remember correctly. Overall the item doesn't actually matter

I'm on my second playthrough and the whistle did not show up it only showed up on the first playthrough and this game has been out for a while now I doubt the devs are going to fix it.

i am on my first playthrough and i found that whistle 3 days ago just fine.

I'm sure this is solved now for you guys but the whistle is at the bench with FRIEND written on the found in the far wall to the left.

I still don't know what to do with the toy, he still dosn't take it and stops talking, I think I ruined the quest by not doing another step first.
