You guys are honestly hilarious.
Btw: The options are a free patch for the base game as well ;-)
I love souls games but I absolutely hate this smug elitist gate keeper attitude from many in the souls community. This is just acting like a little chicken tendie prince, as if how others enjoy the game makes you somehow better than others.
If putting an easy mode into souls games makes more people enjoy the genre, I am totally fine with that as it means more will play, so more of these amazing games will get made in the future.
If they really want to keep the gate keepers happy, add endings and achievements you can only get by playing it on normal difficulty. For those who don't want to struggle on a boss for hours, give them the option to play on their terms
i agree with your last statement, but i don't think that will happen. also, i understand that many are gate keeping it, but that wasn't my take on it. this is a single player game, no one cares how others feel or how others play. this is only about oneself, that's the point.
i found this explanation somewhere by someone, which is exactly how i feel, so i'll leave it here:
"Multiple difficulties or a slider gives me frustration and anxiety and removes the overall enjoyment PERSONALLY. I just want to play the art they developed the way they developed it and feel the satisfaction from completing it. Once I know there are higher difficulties, I feel I’ve played an incomplete version, but usually the Extreme hardcore mode is just added annoyance instead of actual better content. If there’s a lower setting it just sits in the back of my mind the whole play through and makes me think “what’s the point”."
what are you even talking about. i feel like you don't even mean me, because no where in my statement was i hysterical or anything. i just gave a plain statement that i won't be playing and that's it. i don't care if others will play, it's a singleplayer game so your argument doesn't make sense
The horrors of choosing a difficulty is too much for you people.
Well, it can also be in how they implement it, like Khazan has a normal mode and a literal 'easy mode' so you are under no illusion that on journalist mode you are not playing the game as the devs intended.
What is the point? The point is enjoyment and that is purely subjective, so Bob with a wife and kids and mortgage will never get to experience these awesome worlds because he doesn't have hours to waste on a single boss. This gives the option for him to enjoy the game and that is the point of games - subjective enjoyment.
most of my friends regret it after swap it into easy mode and dont want to play game after that.
