If you can parry everything, there's absolutely no reason to dodge. You deal poise and enemy weapon damage when doing perfect guard.
"Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty"
The game is build around deflecting attacks and dodging is basically an emergency option.
But the difference to "Lies of P" is, that it feels way more thought through and fleshed out.
The timing can be tricky at times, but it's rarely a guessing game.
Plus, it feels good and extremely rewarding.
So yeah, it's pure guesswork here and even if you pull it off, the feedback and result aren't really satisfying.
Just block better.
When phrased in that manner, I do now have a stronger opinion of dodging being a last resort, that when pulled off, does lead to a more rewarding feeling. I hope this game doesn't end up like Wo Lang, the main reason I didn't buy it was for that very same reason of only needing to block and/or parry.
I feel ya, if a review states exactly what you stated, I won’t buy it either.
That's true, I try-harded to block/parry all of Donkey boi's attacks, but I found it easier to just dodge them to get behind him faster and spam backstabs. I did the same thing for the police bot where you get the baton, dodging most of its attacks and getting behind it was a much cleaner and faster fight for me than trying to parry everything.
It also goes for the two huge bosses. They both have these left-right swipe combos, and instead of trying to parry everything, it was easier to just dodge the swipes and parry or completely get out of the way of the Fury attack at the end. I only found myself parrying boss attacks when its convenient or would look cool. xD
Personally it didn't feel like dodging was a last resort tool.
Stamina recharges REALLY fast in this game, so I found myself performing better when I started dodging more compared to blocking/parrying.
It's more like Sekiro than any of the other ones, and Sekiro was a great game.
Who cares for Wo Long... Sekiro did this before and better.
its more like Sekiro anyway which is great.
