Reasons for parrying
Just curious, are there really any reasons to parry beyond taking no damage at all? Like you can block but take chip damage while a timed parry takes no damage, but aside from that is there any reason? I was testing and I can't seem to find any relationship between parrying and staggering enemies, or... grogging them, whatever its called in this. You know when they get the blue outline on the health bar and you can use a charge attack to put them in that stagger state. It feels like parrying should do that cuz this feels just like sekiro but I can't tell that it does or not. Does anyone know for certain?

If I parry a lot they seem to get into groggy state easier!
However just parrying does not seem to get them groggy.

Have you completed the demo? It's hard for me to imagine the third boss being beaten without parrying and groggy.

No I've beaten the first boss and gotten to the second stargazer of the second area. I've fought some of the large sub-boss enemies that don't respawn and I've just wondered if I've wasting my time risking my ass for a parry when I could just block and then get the health back I lost to chip damage via rallying.
Also does anyone know if the red perilous attacks can be parried if done with perfect timing? I haven't tried but I'm curious if that might be possible .

There is a popup that say you can not dodge or guard red attacks but you can perfect guard them!

red attacks can only be deflected (perfect block). i haven't tested it but they might be able to be parried with the rapier's parry, and almost definitely with the greatsword's deflect since it's the same as a normal deflect, just with a lot more frames

deflecting adds a lot to the groggy state, but it's hard to know just how much since there's no indication of it at all (there really should be). i'd say it's around 1/3rd the amount that a charged heavy attack adds? that's a barely educated guess though since i didn't pay a lot of attention to the groggy system

Parry will break weak enemies weapons and make strong enemies groggy, even without attacking

Oh I've been using the word parry to mean "perfect block" as you say.
