fastest weapon combo
Anyone know which hilt/blade combo is the fastest while still dealing the most possible damage? Ive only put points into technique for damage

General rule of thumb: the lighter the weapon blade, the faster it is. One thing to keep in mind: how fast do you want the charge attack to be? The Salamander Dagger as-is has one of the fastest, easiest-to-use charge attacks. The other knives (if I recall correctly) perform short combos with their charge attacks, making them take longer to finish.

While the Wintry Rapier blade is low-damage, it's one of the fastest blades and with great range to boot. Easy to slap on anything with a stab.

For my money, Salamander Dagger blade+Acidic Crystal Spear handle gives you the best combination of speed and damage (especially while the fire buff is active).

The best DPS is I think what you mean. That's probably going to be something stupid like the Puppet Axe head on one of the dagger handles, which would be inordinately difficult to use. If you restrict the parameters to decent reach and speed, the Bone Saw blade on the Chef Knife handle is going to be a very solid choice.

If you include special weapons, the Two Dragons Sword is your best choice by a pretty good margin, if you use the special deflect move. It's difficult to get the hang of though.

chef handle is really fast, drop bone saw blade + elemental abrasive/ grind stone.... Speed, reach and power.... Generally its fast weapon's handle( quick moveset) with giant weapon's blade.( high base dmg)
They balanced it more now, further reduced speed penalty for example, while weak blades receive bonus speeds if paired with slow handles. But its still overall better.

For boss weapon, prob Uroboros Eye
Nasty double hit charged heavy attacks, w high speed and enough extension. Chain saw multi hits can trigger the multi hit dmg amulet and it can immediately receive the max buff it like 2 swings or so, while most weapons get to max buff in like 5.

I'll try out the chef handle once I find it, still working on my first playthrough. I have been using the dancers hilt with A tech scaling from the crank. I started with the bone saw blade but it's still pretty slow. I'm now using the booster blade and that is a really nice balance of speed and damage.
I'm about 2/3 (?) of the way through the game. Greatsword of fate blade/wintry rapier's handle got me through the first part. I think the moveset is pretty good because the opening hit of the light attack combo is pretty quick off the bat, and the blade has really high damage reduction while blocking. After that I stuck the same blade on the blind man's double-sided spear handle, and have pretty much been using that ever since.

I did the wintry rapier hilt for awhile with the bone saw blade, such a ridiculous looking weapon lol
Yeah it looked terrible ^^'

Anything on trench spade handle like bone saw is chef's kiss. It's not the fastest but it has a versatile moveset and thrusting r2s, good damage and scaling.

I will try this too. I just acquired the Two Dragon Sword last night and I feel underwhelmed by it since I saw so much hype about it on the interwebs. I'd still like to use something that hits like the booster blade or bonesaw blade.

The Two Dragons Sword is very fine-control based. It has two huge draws. First is that you can parry attacks by charging up the heavy attack, which if the parry succeeds will activate a counterattack hit which deals incredible damage. The other is that you have a lot of control and maneuverability even while in the middle of a string of light attacks or while holding the heavy attack button. Basically you can reposition yourself without having to stop attacking.

Yeah I definitely still want to give it a good try, I think I will max it out by the time my first playthrough is done and then run through new game plus with it. Ive seen videos of people using it and it definitely looks fun, the damage is underwhelming right now as I'm lacking the stones to upgrade it all the way

I can't give you a hilt/blade combo that is the fastest specifically. My first playthrough I stuck to a few weapons only, and messed around with some heavy weapons that were technique focused, but I used Etiquette for a lot of my first playthrough, and smashed quite a few of the bosses using it. It is extremely fast, and it can burn some hp if you play aggressively.
