Disable free equipment?

First off: Great game devs. I love it.

But the free costumes and latest patch equipment are immersion breaking for me. I know I can just "ignore it". I'd sell or drop it if I could. But I hate looking through my equipment and seeing a Rudolph costume, or that "far east" better-than-starting-equipment halberd. I'd rather be able to find/buy that sort of thing.

Is there an option to disable promotional stuff getting added to the bag? If not, can you add one?

The costumes I can pretty much ignore myself. The halberd I agree with, but it actually gets outclassed after the first couple areas. The thing is, you can't get boss weapons until a while into the game, and consequently you also can't get the materials to upgrade boss/special weapons for quite a while either. So you're going to end up upgrading 'normal' weapons several times before you get your hands on an upgraded special weapon. It's still not an optimal system, but it's not quite a disk-one nuke either.
