Not one boss weapon scales with Advance
This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Not a single one for advance builds. What a huge oversight. Like I gotta respec out of my build to get to use most boss rewards, or use a handle modifier to use a gimped version of the weapon. Terrible ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ oversight by the devs. Hopefully the DLC fixes it.

I don't think this is a mistake. After all, boss-ergo has the ability to make either a weapon or an amulet. Allowing elemental damage on top of that would be completely unbalanced. In addition, boss weapons have special moves by default, which are strong and after enough training on the respective weapon lets each opponent dominate and leaves room for different play styles.

There are only 6 elemental weapons in the whole game anyway, 3 light and 3 heavy. Perfectly sufficient for every character build.

Your conclusion that it would be unbalanced to have elemental damage on boss weapons doesn’t follow from the premises.

Again, point stands - if you play Advance you dont get to use boss weapons. That sucks.

I found that a little odd as well, but I think one of the reasons why is you already have the breadth of elemental effects covered by other weapons. You've got blades that all deal innate elemental damage, FAs that buff all elements, FAs that do an attack then buff your blade with that element. You've got thrusting, blunt and slashing, light, medium and heavy, and can mix and match on top of that.

Only thing I can think of would be a boss weapon that deals 2 types of elemental damage, or can swap between 2 forms that have different elements. Although that kinda sounds like it does too much design-wise.

Or idk just a boss weapon that deals an existing damage type (there are 2 fire weapons already) but just has a unique moveset. Thats all I want.

I'm hoping there are some for the DLC. It's an odd choice and a huge bummer. There's at least one dud for Motivity, Technique, and Balance among the special weapons (if we're including the Golden Lie), and each of those could have been replaced with an Advance-scaling weapon for each element.

I will say, though: not being tempted by boss weapons IS secretly a boon, at least for NG. Many of the popular boss weapons give up great amulets.

There's more than enough variety in the weapons, so I don't see this as a big issue. If or when they make a sequel, they'll probably expand the pool of equipment, but this their first soulslike after all.
