Then there's the records you play in the hotel, those are good and fine, but my opinion(and a lot of players I'd expect) is heavily tainted by the game forcing you to play the full tracks for gameplay benefits and an achievement, so it carries the stigma of being something that forced me to sit around for a few minutes, a whole load of times.
However, there is a record player that you collect songs for with a couple of nice sounding tracks but nothing special.
The instrumental songs are really good (they're remixes of DJMax's songs after all) but you can only listen to them when you're on the hotel (the game's equivalent of Firelink shrine).
There's a boss fight that happens next to a stage playing a sad love song in french and somehow it doesn't feel out of place at all.
There is no OST at the level of DMC or something.
It doesn't force you to sit around, it autoplays the next track, so you can just start it at the first one then go make lunch or something and by the time you get back you've gotten credit for all of them.
Dont listen to people saying it doesn't stand out. There's decent amount of songs that do stand out.
Background music is very good but mostly forgetable. 2nd phases of King and Laxasia are my personal favorites among combat tracks, both are also synced well with fights. Still not something I would regularly listen to on its own. But hub location (hotel) track is something else, it even trumps fromsoft creations in how it sets the mood.
Then there is collectible music playable using gramophone in the hotel. Pretty much every track here is amazing.
