I have about 3x the amount of playtime in LOTF and would still lean strongly toward Lies of P. Lords does a few things exceptionally well (world design, story, fashion, magic), but the things it doesn't do well (encounter design, combat flow), it does extremely poorly and this drags the game down, if that makes sense. Lords just feels like such a slog sometimes, while Lies is always fun.

Elden ring? I mean if you haven't played it already, it beats this two games into oblivion and there's content for hundredths of hours...

Didn't dare to recommend to a broke gamer, but in $ / hours in excellent game, hard to beat Elden Ring! (Bloodborne for sure, but that comes with a console...)
This is my first souls-like (played on game pass) I have finished 3 playthroughs to get all the endings and 100% the achievements. I'm itchig to buy the game on steam and do it all over again. I love the game to death and can't wait for the DLC. From what I've heard, lords of the fallen has fallen flat.
Lies of P

+ Fluid combat, movement and responsiveness
+ Great atmosphere
+ Unique weapon system that allow you to mix and match weapons in the game
+ Special moveset on every weapon
+ Legion arms that allows for an unique approach to enemies and bosses
+ An actual good story that makes you care about the outcome of characters throughout the game
+ Good soundtrack
+ Exceptional boss and enemy design
+ Structural level design is well done
+ Good voice acting

- Rolling feels a bit off
- Some weird hitboxes
- World design could be better in some areas

Lords of The Fallen

+ Good atmosphere
+ Good soundtrack
+ Graphically stunning as they used UE5
+ Cool armor, spells and weapons

- Structural world layout is absolutely terrible
- The umbral mechanic ruins the flow of the entire game as you'll have to switch to your lantern and enter a new realm every minute to get through an area, making exploration something you want to avoid by all means, running for bosses is the only way to get a slight enjoyment out of it.
- Lack of vestiges (bonfires) There are very few of them and you'll have to run an absurd distance to get to where you where if you (god forbid) die. You'll have an option to create one some places after obtaining an item from a boss but that's just a useless mechanic that never should be there in the first place.
- Every weapon has the same moveset, No variety at all, or special attacks.
- No enemy variation
- 10x more trash mobs than needed. Does not add any difficulty only makes everything take more time.
- Movement and combat feels extremely low budget, no responsiveness and you float around like a jelly on ice, just like the first Lords of the Fallen game.

This is just on top of my head. But should paint you a picture on what to choose or not.

Happy gaming
This, by leagues and bounds.

I. LotF by FAR.
II. Both equally.
III. Lies of P clear, 1-sided winner.
I want to preface by saying I beat Lords not too long ago and am now currently going through Lies right now. I THINK I might be nearing the end. I will try to answer to the best of my ability.

I. Lords fullstop. Umbral as a mechanic alone is just so cool, but the fact they went out of their way to make so much of the world interconnected is nothing short of phenomenal. Lies shortcuts don't hit the same. Lies doesn't have any shortcuts where you see a locked door and finally emerge from it 10 hours later and have that "Aha!" moment when you remember that door and finally know where it led.

II. Depends what you're looking for. If you prefer the Dark Souls style where there are like 10-15 different weapons in every single weapon class with slight variations in stats, I'd go Lords. Lords also has a magic system and a way better ranged system than Lies, a character creator (that does suck ass but it's better than nothin), and a similar armor system to Dark Souls. Lies is much more like Bloodborne where every weapon has a unique moveset. Combining that with the ability to assemble your own weapons with those parts, it makes for a fun experience just mixing and matching.

III. Could also go either way here. Personally I don't care if a boss is hard or not but rather fun. I enjoyed a lot of Lord's bosses. I enjoy quite a bit of Lies' bosses too. Both have really cool boss designs, but I think Lords has the edge on that front. If you're looking for difficulty, Lies bosses are way harder in my opinion.

Personally I can't recommend both enough, but if you had to get one I'd recommend Lies of P. This is because Lords still has performance issues which (although I didn't experience anything super horrific besides massive frame drops in the first boss battle) can make the experience miserable. Lies of P has ran perfectly for me with no issues whatsoever so I'd go for the safe option and pick the game that is more likely to work with your hardware.

Hits the nail on the head.

Overall i have fun with both games equally but for different reasons. But i would say he should buy Lies of P first and then Lords of the Fallen later. Lies of P is just a way more polished right now and runs on pretty much anything. I have a GTX1080 and the game runs at max settings on a locked 60 FPS, no stutter whatsoever.

Lords of the Fallen still needs things to be ironed out, the devs are heavily supporting their game though with almost daily patches and it already came a long way. If you wait another month or two then its going to be the game it should be and everything should be fixed and polished.
Elden ring, just buy Elden ring.:er_heart:
Remnant From The Ashes 2

Or Lords of the Fallen

Both don't have stupid bloatware that makes it so you can't play offline like this piece of trash does.

Lies of P 100% more Fun and the better Game
I haven't played LOTF yet (I did play the first one and hated it). So this perspective only comes from the Lies of P side. If you enjoy the souls-like genre, this is the strongest game I've ever played outside of a Fromsoft title. I'd still say Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring have the edge in the depth of lore, sheer amount of gameplay, and diversity in builds. However, Lies of P provided such as well-made game with wonderful balancing that you cannot go wrong picking this one up. It is a hard game, but it's very rewarding.

If you are familiar with souls-like games, the hardest thing for me to break was my immediate desire to dodge everything. You can play the game this way, but you're making it harder for yourself. I spent the first 2 hours trying to perfect guard everything because I was bad at it. So most bosses and enemies stomped me at the start. Then it clicked, you got into the flow, and the game became beautiful. Don't misinterpret me, I'm not saying the you should be a parry god and never dodge. Mastery of this game includes an integration of knowing when to dodge and when to perfect guard. If you can do that, you'll be having the time of your life and easily sink a couple hundred hours into this game. (or was that just me...?)
