Because we should be suspicious of a company that's treated their games as nothing more than moneymakers for them and don't have any passion or anything resembling integrity when they publish a game that's good. If they aren't scamming the end user, then that can only mean they're scamming someone else. We as consumers shouldn't be satisfied just because we got a good product, we should take a closer look at what's going on behind the scenes because if we don't, we won't be getting good products for long.
For another, making up weird conspiracy theories doesn't help anything.
Every single company needs to earn money to survive.
If you aren't trolling yourself, you are trolling the forum.
Reality says something different.
Reality shows us exactly this. That's what EA, Ubisoft, and Activision ended up doing; giving us subpar games now because they still keep selling even if their last best games were so far back in the past we have to Google to remember them. The majority of consumers still eat their ♥♥♥♥ up.
As for money, sure, of course every company needs money to survive and keep doing what they do. But when the balance shifts too far in favor of earning money thereby reducing quality and cutting corners who knows where else, you get companies like I just mentioned.
A lot of indie devs also have to consider money in order to do what they do, yet they never make it about greed. Unlike what NeoWiz has been showing us with it's releases. Skul and Lies have been the only good ones so far. We absolutely have to be more critical of the companies we get our products from, if we want to keep getting quality products, or else we lose in the end.
Sure, Round8 made Bless Unleashed, and that could explain how they made Lies feel good mechanically, but we don't know if they're getting the ♥♥♥♥ end of the stick. Also, it's not a conspiracy theory, it's a suspicion. Considering what Neowiz has been doing with its other published games and what gaming companies in general do, it bears keeping in mind that some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ could be going on behind the scenes and we should be wary.
What they did well was to respect From Soft games and humbly copying the core mechanics without arrogantly trying to improve them. The game excels because they kept it possibly simple, in my opinion. Had they stolen the game, we would likely be aware of it. We should praise them for creating an excellent game and not blame them for theft without even a trace of proof.
so far the only shady business that happened was Denuvo.
What a poor take. They made a great game and you're calling them out for potentially stealing the work. Take your tinfoil hat off and give them credit for making an amazing game
If feels almost like this is a fake studio name and that some other more experienced studio produced the game in secret!
I have often thought that if it turned out it was secretly FromSoft that made it, I wouldn't be at all surprised.
