I genuinely don't understand why everyone says this fight is super hard.
I beat him today again on NG+, not over leveled, no summons, no throwables. Just a weapon with a high block rating.
I didn't even need to use the parry grind stone.
You can throw in the occasional parry when you can but most of that fight for me was blocking and hitting him to get my hp back.
How is that a problem with the game ?
If you mean his (very) long charge attack across the arena, his hair (puppet strings coming out of his head) is the tell when it's about to happen. When they stabilize/disappear he is about to attack.
I found him much easier in NG+ simply cuz it's the second go-around and you have every tool in the world available to you. Think about it like an RPG. You can even respec specifically for his fight if you're really struggling.
Then again, you have all sorts of extra P-Organ upgrades to help you this time. So again, it's just a matter of mechanics. You beat him once, you can beat him again.
Quoted for truth.
Beat him in three tries on NG. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ abused me for three hours on NG+. I learned phase two. First try on +3. I think he took me like five tries on +4. I can parry most of his 2nd phase now and I haven't fought him since the patch.
The thing about this is - and it might be an unpopular opinion, but I am going to say it anyway; level really doesn't matter all that much in Soulslikes past like 120.
At first it does, as people where getting VIG checked in Elden Ring for a few months before leveling it, however the higher it gets the more softcaps and stuff your dealing with. They could have been lvl 270 as a glass cannon, which doesn't mean much if your level 185 as a tank, since getting hit more than once is the key to an easier boss. And that doesn't even take into account skill level or luck with regards to the AI being dumb sometimes.
E.G. - Been playing Bloodborne again, and I went to kill Ludwig ASAP for his dope sword. Killed him at level 80 after about 5-7 tries. The DLC however is :
- Recommended level to start = 70, but this is akin to taken the harder road first in a Souls game (imagine half the enemies up to the boss being "Lady in White" with the other half being Shovel Bots)
- "Medium Difficulty" = 100+
But then other people better than me beat it as low as 65. Friend of mine however couldn't pull this off after leveling higher than 100 (ended up farming chalice dungeons until he could do it). The only thing that changed here between randos, my buddy, and myself, is the skill of the player fighting the boss and luck regarding some moves.
At last I was able to kill the bastard. Thanks to what you said I focused on blocking and parry. I also used the Parry grindstone at the beginning of phase 2. I used holy sword of the ark with a 70 percent block and it helped a lot to get my health back. My hands hurt from all the parry but it was worth it in the end. Thanks to everyone who gave me tips. It feels great that Geppeto called me worthless puppet.
