SPOILERS - True Ending Help

Hey everyone, I read the wiki's to figure out the third ending to save Sophia. I've gotten the weapon from the portrait, chose to keep Sophia alive, and about to go to Manus. I've read numerous guides to avoid needing a 4th playthrough (still gonna happen haha), and they seem to disagree on how to respond to Manus. When he asks what we did with Sophia, should I respond that I "liberated her from the abby" or "gave her peace"? Or does it not matter?

Never mind, I did something wrong haha. Perhaps I was supposed to give her peace? Seems I followed the wrong guide! Time for playthrough 4

Here's how I did them. Not sure if there was more to it -


Rise of P - Kill Sophia, tell Manus you gave her peace. Refuse to give Gepetto your heart. Defeat the Nameless Puppet.

Free from the Puppet String* - Let Sophia live, tell Manus you liberated her from the Abbey. Refuse to give Gepetto your heart. Defeat the Nameless Puppet.

*There are some sources that state you need to have high Humanity for this ending. On this run, I actually did - since I unlocked The Golden Lie on this playthrough.

Real Boy - Give Gepetto your heart.

Oh, I guess I assumed Rise of P was the secret ending that needed high humanity. I appreciate it. I guess I'll just do whatever I want and make that decision in the end. I got the Free from the Puppet String on my first playthrough and just thought that was the standard ending regardless of humanity.

Just for reference, I unlocked "Rise of P" as my first playthrough. I had enough Humanity to jiggle the cat around, but not actually embrace it. I also was not able to obtain The Golden Lie at that time.

My second playthrough I pursued the Record achievement, and The Golden Lie specifically. I followed the dialogue options above and got "Free from the Puppet String" as well.

Perhaps both of these require decent levels of Humanity? I am not sure...

On my third playthrough, I just got the "Real Boy" ending... which seemingly has no other requirement besides what was mentioned above.

I've still gotten the best ending by telling Simon the liberate option since I'm a little fibber. Something else worth noting is some sources state that all records need to be played and listened to with the exception of the Golden Records. This is also false. I didn't find two and there's two records given by Eugenie, both cannot be obtained in one game cycle.

I think the two main parameters is gaining enough humanity to grow grey hair, and fulfill Sophia's request. I've fulfilled Sophia's request in my second run but barely gained humanity, so I got the neutral ending.

There are some inconsistencies to these endings.

I have gotten Free from the Puppet String ending by giving Sophia peace, tell Manus I gave her peace, refused to give heart and defeated Nameless Puppet. I did not have enough humanity to even cuddle with the cat, it was hissing at me just before I killed Manus.

I have now completed NG+ and It is unlikely I will go through the game for the 3rd time so just two endings will do for me. I might wait for a DLC, hoping it will come, to start new character with different build to try again.

I have very high humanity,long white hair I chose "give her peace" for Sophia and I chose "I give her peace " to Manus

What end I will get if I refuse to give the heart to geppeto? I also got the golden lie weapon already

I believe that's the Rise of P ending.

I did it yesterday,it doesn't matter what's your choice on Manus ,you just need to have white long hair and give Sophia peace

? that has nothing to do with it. Well, if you want to build humanity, you have to lie to him, thats it. But you dont need to build humanity because its too late. Either you are a grey hair puppet who gave sophia peace with high humanity, or you have black hair. You need the grey hair, and if you are following guide and getting at least 60%? 70%? of humanity, you are good and should have grey hair when giving her peace. Then battle the nameless puppet, do not give heart, and guarantee ending. Getting the golden lie is not required for the best ending. Its just a sign of very high humanity. Regardless of humanity, giving heart or refusing to give sophia peace will throw you out of best ending.
