Motivity builds are clearly super built for stagger/charged attacks into fatal attack. So a lot of blocking/parrying.
Technique builds aren't made for that. You're meant to be more nimbe, use dodge much more as your guard isn't as strong and fight the boss like that.
You're not actually gimping yourself, you're just trying to play a motivity build on a teq build. But it's also personal preference.
There is also the curved dancer sword and puppet ripper.
On every weapon you see a guard regain stat I believe, so that's one metric you can see for yourself. Heavy weapons regain more of that grey HP than light weapons do. It makes blocking so viable with them. Guard regain or something it's called, should be a stat on your weapons
The amount of HP you get back is based on your vitality stat, though, I believe.
EDIT: Actually I might've confused something. I think the guard regain you see on your stat list is just the summary of how much you regain per hit, not tied to the weapon itself but your vitality. I thought the weapon mattered too.
I think the heavy weapon is just best suited for that overall guard/perfect guard because if you perfect guard, an enemy gets staggered faster when you do it with a heavy weapon. You can also break an enemy's weapon faster if your weapon is heavy, which is kinda logical. That coupled with guard regen makes guard/perfect guard with a heavy weapon very viable.
Since light weapons just don't inflict as much stagger damage, you're better off dodging more. Ofc perfect guard is still useful.
I can't find any numbers though, sorry
Spec 30/30 dex/adv and you can easily shred bosses with either, though lately the wheel has been my favorite because the art + elemental damage on NG+ is easily shredding elite enemies/bosses
I plan to run tech my next run and still use greatswords lol
Motility weapons want you to have good patience.
I am enjoying the Wrench on the Booster glaiv. What else would you recommend?
Blade: https://liesofp.wiki.fextralife.com/Bone-Cutting+Sawblade
and
Hilt: https://liesofp.wiki.fextralife.com/Dancer's+Curved+Sword+Handle <--- My choice
https://liesofp.wiki.fextralife.com/Bramble+Curved+Sword+Handle <--- Good alternative
My chosen Hilt is (as said above) is Dancers. I love it's moveset and speed. Bramble is a good alternative if you prefer Diagonal swings.
Edit: Dancers gets an A scaling with Tech modification
I was just using this one : https://liesofp.wiki.fextralife.com/Electric+Coil+Stick+Head with the Krat Police Baton Handle.
Just bonk ... Maximum one.
Just give a try to what I suggested above. It slaps... really damn hard. You are 1 handing a Greatsword with relatively fast attacks. the weapon art on the blade deal incredible dmg
You'll gonna fall in love with Dex build
Started a new character for Tech and it feels wild. Super fast and mobile, but strangely consumes a lot of stamina. Mostly because I only swung once or twice (mostly) with the greatsword and had by the time I had another opening, my stamina filled up a lot. With technique, I feel like I can swing at will because my animations finish way faster and I can save myself. So I get more greedy.
Just beat the first Black Rabbit gang (or whatever). Been rocking the booster glaive since I got it. It's been fun enough. Sometimes I want to use the umbrella so I can fight like a gentleman, lol.
