Attack Types
This refers to the type of damage the weapons deal. We have 3 different consumables that deal Piercing, Slashing and Strike damage respectfully on the description.

However the scaling on the weapon only refers to Slash and Stab (piercing?). So is there a third type of scaling that is missing (strike for all Hammer/Blunt weapon types) because it is oddly illogical for blunts to scale of slashing. Is it bug in the GUI that is not showing?

Is this really intended cuz it it looks odd to me.

It's kinda weird but the slash and stab "scaling" is actually moveset tied. Basically blades can be good at slashing, stabbing, or both. All attacks in the game are either slashing or stabbing. If a blade is only good at stabbing, like the wintry rapier blade for example, then you will have a damage penalty if you use any slashing attacks with it. Take the spear of honor for example. This handle has a slashing R1 and a stabbing R2. The R1 attacks will do less damage if you put the wintry rapier blade on that handle, but the R2 attacks will get full damage.

However, the blade of the greatsword of fate for example, excels at slashes and stabs and therefore will suffer no penalty on any attack.

Piercing, Slashing and Strike is only considered for defensive purposes as far as I understand the game. You can pick one of types of defensive parts/padding that let you mitigate one specific type a lot more than the rest.

Slash and Stab refers to move set of a blade and handle. You need to match blade and handle with proficiency in the same moves in to suffer damage penalty. I'm not sure what the penalty is though.

for your weapons, there are only 2 damage types in this game:
1. strike damage with blunt weapons
2. cutting damage with rest of the weapons
both of slash and stab are not damage types, they are attack motion types.
a "=" icon for each attack motion means no penalty
a double down icon means a penalty for motion value if you use this attack motion
if you can see an icon for slash or stab on this weapon (※not blade) that means, the handle allowed you to do such attack motion
For example, you use a blunt weapon that means, it really doesn't matter which handle you choose for this blade and what icon you get for slash or stab, all the attack motions only provide strike damage. You slash or stab enemy then only give a strike damage, and final strike damage depends on whether you have a penalty icon for slash or stab motion.
So, the right description should be
1. Strike damage with any motion
2. Cutting damage with slashing
3. Cutting damage with stab
instead of slash, stab, strike on description of your defense parts.

Thanks this helped alot! I appreciate your choice of examples, I was wondering why my rapier was hitting for less.
