Nameless puppet phase 2
First of all, I am not a bad player. Elden Ring platinum, Sekiro platinum, Thymesia platinum. But I am old and a bit slow. The second phase of the nameless doll is completely exaggerated in my eyes. I struggled with the bosses before, but after a lot of practice they were all doable. Well maybe I shouldn't have just tackled the nameless one on NG+, but in the first run I just missed it or decided otherwise.

Yes, I know the Aegis tactics, but that can not be the point. I need to be able to beat a boss with parry and dodge, which just isn't feasible for me in phase two. So far I found the difficulty gard really OK, but this boss, quite honestly even Isshin I found easier, because at least you had time to react or heal. As an example, even with the whetstone that immediately repairs the weapon I'm already half dead again when I use it, even if I'm further away.

Do not understand the nerfs in patch 1.2, because they were not necessary, unlike the doll.

But I'll keep trying because I'd already like to platinize the game.

Phase 2 of this monster cut the strings on me pretty damn hard even on NG. It is a flurry of intimidating hard to fully see attacks and has some pretty diverse attack sequences. Also: ♥♥♥♥ that fury attack charge it does. It is extremely active, fast, and long reaching with its actions. It is a real monster.

That said: stick to it and keep trying. I'd recommend trying to figure out its sequences when you get to phase 2 for as long as you can and start working on at least blocking them if you can't perfect guard and dodging the last in the sequence to secure your punishes on it. Good luck.

So, here is what makes its phase 2 much easier:
Dodge into its attacks when it is performing those whirling multi-hit combos rather than guard or perfect guard. If you time the dodge correctly, it will position you behind and slightly to the right of the boss and you do not have to do anything else to avoid rest of its attack.
It is still random fight so it might take you few tries for the start to align just right but you should be able to kill it without much trouble. I bashed my head against Nameless Puppet on my first playthrough trying to guard and parry guard my way through as for most previous bosses but it was simply not working. Other bosses were made easier if you dodge rather than guarded some of its attacks but never it was this hardcoded into their attacks that you must avoid them rather than guard.

Also, make sure you are entering phase 2 with fully repaired weapon. I could not repair my weapon most of my attempts at phase 2 due to how aggressive the boss is.

PS. You have not fought Nameless puppet the first time you beat the game because you decided to give you heart to Geppeto, which resolves the ending without a fight.

Just use all the tools available. It's the final boss in a very hard game.
Get him into shocked state with the throwing cells so he at least takes more damage per hit.

I also recommend using the fully upgraded Puppet String. If you go for parries and blocks you will get pushed back a lot. With the Puppet String arm you have a gap closer with a nice heavy attack. He sometimes dodges out of the attack, but more often than not you will get some nice damage in.
Don't get greedy and go for heals and (fast) repairs instead of damage. He will wear your weapon and health down pretty quickly.

I tried the puppet string but in most cases she dodges it. It's annoying. I will try it again but actually phase one is pretty easy with Fulminis.

Watch out for his backwards dodge often used shortly before charging in. There is a tiny window where you can get in and he will not dodge again. Granted it is a bit rng but so is most of this fight.
Phase 1 he is also pretty easy to parry. If you stay close he will mostly use his slow heavy attacks. Once you get the timing you can switch out fulminis.
Meanwhile I got her down but I need to face her again because I messed up with Sophia before. So ng++ here I come.

Her? lol
Its a mostly fair and straigh forward fight tbh. I played with fast sword (green monster boss weapon) and the worst attacks are the daggers. It needs time to get used to, mainly when he whirls in the air but i found dodging to be the way to go. Deflecting was too dangerous imo. You get your as* kicked in one combo.

He has alot of attacks you can expliot if you stray close.

Its actually one of the better bosses, if not the best in the game imo.

I'm from Germany and it's called "die namenlose Puppe" here that's why I wrote her. Actually, the gender doesn't matter at all, except for you, of course.

I'm stuck here also and have been since before patch but only doing tries for like 1 hour at a time not sat all day doing it.
I don't wanna farm and spam consumables like ive seen some say, even watching speed-runners doing it but if that's the way to go to get a shot at more chieves and ng+ then so be it. :er_wave:

People you need to BLOCK everything except his air to ground attacks in phase 2. The second phase 2 begins activate the perfect guard grindstone and just block. When he starts spamming his combos you start spamming block and you will perfect most of them. Once he's below half health, after a fatal unload all your items on him during that long recovery animation. If you can beat Manus, this fight is way easier you have no excuse.
Safest way to dodge that fury attack is to just keep your distance and sprint sideways when he hunches down. He'll miss you every time and leave a generous opening to hit him back.

Beaten this puppet way faster in ng++ now. It's still a hell of a fight but now I was able to enjoy it and saw the spots where I can parry in second phase or where I need to dodge in the direction of the puppet instead of dashing backwards. Oh and the hint I should always dodge to right really helped.

In ng+ and forward start using 2 perfect blocking grindstones against human/small puppet enemies. After they finish their long combos with no effect, they usually are ready to get staggered and fatal attacked. By the time your second grindstone expires, the boss is at 50% or lower, depending on your build. It's something, right?
