Respec at the tree patch change

What does this actually mean, anyone knows?
Is it purelly QoL change and you stilll need to unlock respec at the statue (beat Victor) or statue is entirely useless now and you can respec after beating Black Rabbit's eldest?

It just means you can respec at the tree instead of constantly going back to the statue, of course you need to unlock it first.

you dont need to do anyhting as long as u have the cube guy near the gold coin tree then u have the respec

So the statue has no meaning anymore. Weired change.. i mean there is a Bonfire next to it.

Is that true? I don't have any options at the tree except to collect the fruit. Cube man is in the next room over

Conflicting answers. Does anyone know for sure? I have no way to test at this moment.
Hopefully you still need to reach the statue, otherwise its a weird design.

Yes - checked it out yesterday as I just started a NG+ run :
- The statue is meaningless as far as I can tell
- At the start, Gold Tree was open, and a mysterious "Vendor" sells the stuff until Giongio or whatever moves there
- The status Stargazer was immediately available in the Fast Travel list

I don't know about a straight "NG" run for anybody new - but for anybody else, it just invalidated the location you need to go to.

Well, statue was available from the start of NG+ even before 1.2
