Should i continue?
Never played a dark sould kinda game.
Just wanted to try this out on gamepass.

I'm getting killed 4 times in a row in basically the tutorial. First big police guy

I have the big sword.

Is this a sign that i'm basically not cut out for this type of game?

These games are trial and error. Learn from your mistakes and move on. If it's not your cup of tea then yes move on.

This game has a learning curve. Keep practicing, focus on those perfect guards, and learn the i-frames of your dodge. Even as a souls vet, I died a lot at the beginning as I practiced the perfect guard every chance I had. Sure, I could dodge just fine, but I knew these were skills I needed.

It will click, just be willing to give it time. It's most definitely worth the journey

the question is whether you want to continue?

Potentially. I think this game is bad and people generally shouldn't play it. But especially as a first-time Souls-like player I wouldn't choose LiesOfP. Something like Elden Ring or DS1 or DS2 might be better starts for new-to-Souls.

Is Pretty much you play as Intended. :)

However, I would recommend playing Dark Souls 3 as first souls game. If you like it/manage it then go Dark Souls 1 then Sekiro. Then maybe try Lies of P again.

Also another advice, whatever souls game you play go play it blind for the first playthrough. Once you finish it, look up guides as much as you want, but don't ruin your first playthrough of souls game with spoilers and guides. You can only experience the first play once in your life.

and why I don't recommend this one, is way to hard even for souls players, but further then that, it is not very good balanced, specially till the mid to late stages.

It's totally understandable that you're finding the first steps challenging, especially if you've never played a souls-like style game before. These games are known for their steep learning curves and tough encounters, but don't let a few early defeats discourage you!

I've got some experience with souls-like games, and I can assure you that this one in particular can be quite demanding even for experienced players. The key is patience and practice. If you're really stuck on a boss or enemy encounter, you can summon help, and also buff him once you progress further into the game.

Also I believe, the game has a nice story and is visually quite pleasing, so you sure can find some enjoyment off that too. However if you find yourself getting too frustrated with the game, it's perfectly okay to take a break or even decide not to continue if it's not enjoyable for you. Personally i think it's a really good game, and one of the best souls-like we got recently :Janitor_Heart:

Enjoy!:naswords:

Continue - these games are basically designed to train muscle memory in a way similar to some older generations of games via weird mechanics and artificial difficulty.

Basically - enemies are designed to be mechanically tough for most people, and then the players "job" if you will, is to learn the moves and leverage whatever they can to win. People say it - but there really isn't a "cheap" way to do things, it is really a "Smarter way" (work smarter not harder).

It is a bit daunting - but do take breaks if your getting to frustrated also. Having played these types of games for 10+ years, they do that - and sometimes a break is just what the mind needs to come back and do much better. Plus, I bet just about everybody took a break during their first game. Demon's Souls had me take at least a 2 week break to finish the first level as my first one.

This game is certainly among the more challenging examples of this genre. I also died to the big police guy like, 10 times, before I got it down, and I have played basically all the Souls games and Sekiro before. Like, this game has a steep learning curve. At the end of the day, it's just a video game (even if it is a very good video game), so only continue if you have fun

Losing to a boss doesn't mean you aren't cut out for these sorts of games, not even if you die over and over and over.
Refusing to learn and improve means you aren't cut out for these games.

So long as you can sit back and think "Right, what did I do wrong? What do I need to do better?" then you're all good. Who cares if you die even a hundred times to a boss, they can never truly win unless you give up.

Big part of soulslikes for me is the drive to beat the game and overcome the obstacles the game presents to the player. This is the genre basically. If you feel like quitting after 4 deaths then you might not be cut out for it. I strongly recommend to give it more time though.

Although, this is on the more difficult side of the spectrum when it comes to soulslikes. Dark Souls 1 would be a far better starting point or Elden Ring or whatever else.

Yeah well I got him at the 5th try, was more worried that it should have been an easy tutorial boss to show how the game works, and I shouldn't have any issues dealing with him.

Something different these games, that's for sure.

Not sure yet if it's my kinda thing but will play a bit longer. Thanks all!

The difficulty ramps up from there, but it's not unusual in these sorts of games to have an enemy that kills you a bunch of times before you figure them out. Really comes down to how frustrated you're getting and whether you choose to look at it as a fun challenge. Like I said, it will get even more difficult later on. (Not sure how it feels after newest patch)
