I think the people complaining about the game are a lot more noisy, that's the entire reason the bosses were nerfed. Its weird with souls games, you don't complain about a platformer or rythm game being too hard and trying the devs to change stuff but for some reason you get a loud majority of people too prideful to summon but still feel entitled to complain the game is too hard, not considering changing their approach to the boss. The one change i think that was needed was just the buff to the summons and maybe one more frame to parry red attacks.
There are two types of people:
1. The person that likes to blame the game for everything and are not willing to admit any shortcomings at all.
2. The person that realizes they might just need some help because they aren't used to the game.
If a person makes a topic sayin I am having real trouble with this boss, can someone please help. The VAST MAJORITY of git gudders won't even mention git gud in the first place. In fact WE (yes we) will be as helpful as we can in helping the person get past whatever they are stuck on...
On the other hand, if a person makes a topic saying
THIS BOSS IS CHEAP, BAD DESIGN, etc... Then they have no intention taking constructive criticism in the first place.. They want to blame THEIR shortcomings on the game because they don't care to learn anything.
THAT is why git gudders exist, and why we don't give people like type 1 above the time of day.
TLDR:
If you don't come off as an entitled jerk blaming your shortcoming on the game mechanics, then the git gudders will do everything they can to help the person
In general, the hardcore audience is well...very divided. I think most of them are on the nicer side, though there are definitely quite a few bad apples. Ironically, they are the weaker guys from the hardcore audience. Let's be honest, nobody that's decent at souls games is ever going to brag that they just beat a game...maybe SL1 or challenge runs, but just the base game? It's very far from a brag-worthy achievement.
Same for PVP. Most of the toxic PVP guys are twinks who prey on beginners and casuals..they got filtered at the meta level, got themselves dual naginatas or RoB that they use for low level invasions so they can feel powerful.
Of course, the exception proves the rule. Can't say that Jeenine seems like a super wholesome dude. But on average, the better players have some humility that "git gudders" simply lack. Git gudders are kind of a bad mix of good players and the casual audience. The skill level of a casual or just very barely above it, but the ego of Jeenine.
Which is why I'm ironically the most receptive to both the casual and the very hardcore audience. While the skill level is very different, the ego is comparable, and humility goes a long way. This does not include the toxic casuals who want the game to be redesigned just so they can easily beat.
100% this. I beat most of the game's bosses without too much trouble, but I had to learn some of them (and I really got my arse kicked sometimes). If I see someone just complaining that a boss is cheap and unfair without learning what I did then "git gud" is valid.
The thing people don't realise is "git gud" isn't something you exclusively tell other people. You tell it to yourself when you lose, again, and again, until you feel yourself "getting good" and you win.
It's not meant to troll, it's meant to encourage to try and learn and grow. And no game like this is hard enough that people can't learn it. It's just about how much time you're willing to invest in learning it.
And if you're not willing to invest much? That's fine, maybe this game isn't for you, but it doesn't make it a bad game. Not every game is for every person, and that's totally OK.
maybe if you tried harder at typing out understandable sentences as hard as you try to look cool on the Steam forums over being a 'gaming prodigy,' you wouldn't come off as such a doofus.
