no real souls vet would rely on help.
thats for casuals.
I also have some "good" news. Puppet King is a childs play compared to the bosses that comes after.
Edit: If you beat Malenia and you struggle with Puppet King... just admit that you abused Mimic Tear in Elden Ring.
No mimic used. But his second phase is not easy, everyone i know who are Souls vets agrees he is super hard. I havent used the specter yet. Still deciding if i really want to.
then let me spoil you the tactic to make it easy.
Dodge towards him and get behind his back. This makes him stop his attack chain, and you can just chip away his health...
Again, Puppet King is easy. Took me 7 tries.
EDIT: your souls "vet" friends suck then.
No offense they kinda suck then. I beat him first try myself. With the tyrant murderer dagger. His second phase is easier than a lot of the fights from the souls games .
Dodge to the left or towards him, he will hardly ever hit you. Then just wail on him. He staggers a lot easier than his first phase.
But ya he is just a skill check. If he does his big flame combo just run away for half of it then dodge left for the rest of it.
There ya go, all the advice you need to beat him. He is not that difficult.
they literally designed the fight to be an easy waste of time until the end where it gimmicks you to death. it's a terrible boss.
Ah yes that gimmick you can completely avoid without even remotely being touched and may not even happen if you keep aggressive and on him.
Oh dear.
Just wanted to try one more strategy, and managed to work. If it failed i might of used specter, idk.
I dont believe you beat him on your first try at all. No way you can beat that unless you are lucky, or psychic and just know what he is going to do.
Well i did. I destroyed his first phase with throwables, used them up, took a few hits and used half of my healing.
Then took on his second phase, activated my crit buff from my fable art and went to town.
It helps i rely on dodge far more than perfect block or block in general.
I always prepare for a boss. If i dont know who it is i just load up based on the area. And there was puppets all over so i figured electric then. And got lucky in that regard. His first phase is super weak to it.
Second phase = dodge
When it came to Romeo, meanwhile, it felt like I was fighting a Stalker. I didn't even notice his flame puddles because I was already trying to avoid the background fires as it was, so any *more* fire just got put in the 'avoid this' bin. For a climax boss I'd say he's fantastic. Just another case of 'some people will call him a wall'. Again tho, kudos.
He was super hard for me, too. Took me around 2 hours worth of attempts to get him. These bosses have more than a couple of patterns and the timing is always something that takes a while to grasp a hold of (least for me).
When I beat him, I felt a little lucky because I didn't have his moves completely figured out, but I hit him enough to kill him because one of the sequences I did have the timing down for, he did a lot. He surprised me one time when I thought it was only a 4 hit move, and one time he threw a 5th swing in there, lol. I almost died at the end, too, because I tried to kill him with my Fable Art and he lived. Then he was on my azz.
It's crazy seeing and feeling how far you've come from the time you first encounter a boss, and the difference when you beat them.
If you want to see my winning run.

Anyways. Good luck moving forward!
