Even elden ring?
Powercrank Sep 23, 2023 @ 8:01am
yes, elden ring and souls games both allow many cheese tactics, summoning friends, and easy overleveling to be stronger than enemies. this game has similar tactics, but you will find them to be very limited in this game, forcing you to face enemies in a "fair" fight.

The bosses are about the same as DS3 for me.

Id say harder than Elden Ring but easier than Sekiro imo.

Yes far harder than any From game including Sekiro imo. Sekiro has an obvious rhythm and fairly clear window to block in, this game does not and you need to perfect block in this game or you're going to struggle.

I personally find souls games far easier than this game and the combat is far better imo

If you divide the fights you'll have into three types:

- small fry enemies that take 1-3 hits
- bigger enemies that are a lot more spongy (Dark Souls equivalent might be Black Knights)
- bosses

I think the first point is much, much easier in Lies of P. Unless there's a bigger enemy nearby, they pose pretty much zero threat. These types of enemies aren't really interesting, have pretty braindead patterns.

The bosses feel alright. About the difficulty of Sekiro. I honestly think a few bosses could half their HP and still be fair, a lot of the bosses feel like battles of attrition more than they feel like battles of skill.

I think the issue is the second bullet point, the bigger enemies. They're way too spongy and deal way too much damage. It was always risky to fight them and would take 2-3 minutes of luring and cheesing for some of them (not all of them, some of them). They're also way too plentiful. The latter areas are dense with these types of enemies and often I just ran past because the risk is too high and the reward too low to bother fighting them.

People think that Sekiro is harder than Lies of P? Seriously?

Well.... that depends. How did you beat Elden RIng?
With the Mimic and some rune farming? Yeah, than it is harder.
No ashes at all? I think Elden Ring is harder.

Yeah I feel that while ER offers a lot more options to make things easier, some of the boss fights including mini bosses like say a Draconic Tree Sentinel, are far harder than Dark Souls 3 and 1 (I have not finished 1 yet and did not like 2).

I wouldn't say it's harder, just different. I can't speak for others but everytime I play a new soulslike, I approach it in ways i'm familiar with. I made the same mistake with Sekiro. I went into it thinking it'd be familiar because I knew dark souls. Turns out it did not help.

While the change isn't as drastic as Dark souls to Sekiro, Lies of P is it's own things, with it's own rules that you have to listen to or else you'll get smacked in the face.

Once you get used to the games mechanics, i'd say it's on a similar level. But it'll give you a rude awakening if you try to play it like regular dark souls.

You can use builds, cheese, and tactics to make all From's games easier. So far I've not seen anyone make LOP easier using any of the above, so imo it is without doubt harder (in a bad way) than all From's games. For those that paid full price for it, I sympathise. You are either going to spend forever working out a zillion boss move-sets or you're going to quit.

You.. do realize a lot of people love doing that, right? The people cheesing dark souls aren't the majority of the playerbase.

Dark Souls got popular BECAUSE it was hard. Not because it was easily cheeseable.

I've already beaten the game multiple times, it really isn't that bad. There is definitely ways to cheese fights if you really wanted to do so. (wishcube/aegis/throwables/backstab baiting on humans/etc)

Biggest issue I see people doing is playing it like dark souls and overly relying on trying to dodge everything or they are just tapping the block button instead of holding it in as the attacks land.
