Otherwise, and also for Elite mobs - would be more about the timing for dodging their attacks. You would want to time it so you are dodging with, IDK, roughly 1 foot between you and their weapon (but like - forwards and to the right/left a bit).
They cannot turn too tightly when charging, and so you are looking to dodge into their dead-zone. For elites, also be ready for a follow-up spinny like attack sometimes. Usually they have something in their move-set to turn them or hit behind them.
That said, parrying everything is the "strongest" way to go about it. The timing becomes second nature once you start trying it. Sometimes, the charges on enemies are insane though and hit far more times than you'd think, which makes the timing odd. Dodging is my go to for almost all charging moves because of this.
Yea, enemies just swinging wildly is a bit annyoing.
Also the shovel guys that close in on you so quick.
I mean i'm getting along and i like the game but the combat still does not really feel fluid to me.
Might take a little damage, but for example, one of the later bosses does some like; 15 hit combo. Back-stepped first, then on the hits I was sure would hit me, I dodged into him with the double-dodge, and managed to avoid about 80% of the attack.
Anything giant or fat though; most of this goes out the window and I just back-peddle the whole fight. Bring it to a good spot, and never stop backing up if you can help it; dodge around at the end of the zone, and go back the other way backwards. I may walk a couple of miles by the end of it, but it helps also maintain some situational awareness should enemies be around, or you can make a quick exit if by a door/path should you need to repair/heal/ditch the fight.
