Focusing early on Vigor and Stam helped lots early game for me. This is probably the safest way I play Dark Soul. Always level up Vigor and Stam and have minimum stats for starter weapon until I hit soft caps then figure out which weapon to marry myself to.

This is my NG+ build... i found that elemental weapons shred bosses

im using electric chainsaw for puppets, black steel cutter for the monsters and carcass crystal axe for humans... and occasionally proof of humanity for fun

DEX build from ch1 to ch? (archibishop) 29Vigor, 29Tech, 10 Cap, 10Vit.
Frome ch? (eldest rabbit) to ch? (grand exhibiton) I increased vit, my stats now 24vit, 16cap, 29 vigor, 34tech.

Currently running a hybrid build between dex and advance which is carrying me pretty well for my 1st play through:

Using the cutting saw blade with the dancer's curved sword handle + the circular electric chainsaw with the electric coil stick handle

Was able to beat Chapter 7 and 8 main bosses in my 1st try

I think unlock this samurai sword which is very fun to use so currently replaced my cutting saw blade with that to play around with in Chapter 9

Full Motive, using Saw Blade with twisted dance handle ( amazing heavy attack that jumps at targets). Using the Mine arm at level 4, ammy's are the health regen one, puppet/corpse dmg, and Dodge fury attacks.

Weapon, +2 Seven-Coil Spring Sword with altered handle to increase Motivity.

I don't want to level up my weapon again in case I come across another good boss weapon. I was reluctant to make it level 2, but I really needed the extra damage for the opera house enemies.
