NG+ question

So I'm going for the last 6 records I need as well as my last ending 'free from the puppet string'. Now since this is the truth based ending, and I need to apparently lie to get the far east princess record from eugenie, have I screwed myself over? I've read that you are not allowed to lie ONCE to get this ending, or is it more lenient than people are saying?

so, how did u get the two endings first? copied safe file? that's cool. if that's what u done then play on two safe files this time, one file for the ending and the second for the records.

There is no such thing as "truth based ending", its just misinformation.

Ending is determined by your humanity level and 2 specific choices.
If you have very little humanity you wont be able to refuse giving heart, no Nameless Puppet and locked to worst ending.
If you refuse you get one of the 2 remaining endings:
Lots of humanity AND you took Sophia's ergp = best ending, Rise of P.
If you dont have lots of humanity (just enough to refuse) OR you didnt take Sophia's ergo (let her live) then you get medium ending, what you called "truth based ending".

Always telling the truth is actually a great way to lock yourself of "truth based ending" if you also answered riddles incorectly (puppets dont solve riddiles, solving them increases humanity) and didnt collect and listen to enough records.

BTW even in Rise of P run (lies only to max humanity) you lose nothing by telling Eugene the truth. Choosing truth also gives you humanity, just a bit later, after reloading the area and talking to Eugene again.

Ahhh I see, that’s just how the guide I used framed it as.

So get as little humanity as possible and don’t give her peace. Thanks for the clarification!

Yeah just a quick backup to save time, seeing as I have so many other games lined up currently. Did the same trick in sekiro & elden ring. Also a good idea, just in case things go wrong. Thanks for the suggestion

From looking around at peoples experience I'm like 90% sure that if you have high ish humanity (feels warmth) by the time you reach sophia then you can get all 3 endings with that file. Choose give peace and refuse heart for rise of P, choose set free and refuse heart for free from strings, and choose either and give heart for bad ending. I still had the option of freeing sophia and going for that ending even though I had enough humanity to get the golden lie.

Pretty much. Low humanity (and therefore telling truth at any point) is never a requirement. By maxing humanity and backing up your save right after Laxasia you can get all 3 endings from there depending on your choices later.
But having low humanity locks you out of some endings. With low humanity you cant get Rise of P even with correct choices. And if its near 0 you'lll be forced to give heart.
