Lies of P

Lies of P

What the hell happened to the people with this game?
Honestly, I can't believe the amount of absurd things the people saying about this game.
"It is a Bloodborne clone".
That comment is player's fault. The creators didn't mention Bloodborne until someone asked them about their inspirations and similarities. And many people asked the same question again, and again.
"It is the same aesthetic".
That is so ridiculous as say two stories are the same or copy only because they are set in the Sengoku period. Yeah, Bloodborne and Lies of P are set in the 19th Century, but Bloodborne is a Lovecraftian-Gothic horror story, meanwhile Lies of P is an old school Sci-fi steampunk story. For God's sake, is so "old school sci fi" that there is a reference to Isaac Asimov's Laws of the Robotic. In fact, if you see a Developer Behind-The-Scenes, the designer explain why they choose the Belle Epoque for this game.
"The controls are rough"
For me, this is debatable, until I see people comparing this game to other From Software games, expecting this game works as one of them. My brother in Christ, this game is not Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1-2-3, Bloodborne, Sekiro or Elden Ring. Even considering it uses the same mechanics, like Sekiro's perfect guard, the timing and the way they work is different, and you can't say they don't work because you expected something else. I thought something similar when I started playing, but towards the end of the demo I understood this, change my way to play and started to enjoy the game in an unusual way. So much so, that I decided to play it a second time with this new mentality, and now everything clicked.
The funny part it is not the first time this situation happened to me. In Sekiro, I change my way to see and play the game when I fought Gyobu Oniwa. In Elden Ring the same happened when I fought General Radahn. And in Lies of P happened when I fought Scrapped Watchman.
So yeah, criticism is okay, but please, don't make the mistake of criticizing it just because you had a different idea of what the creators want to do.
Pro Tip: In this game, dodging is not meant to get you away from the enemy, especially bosses, but to take advantage of their iframes to dodge some of their attacks, because the game wants you to stay close to the enemy and master the perfect guard. (by the way, it's easier to do than in Sekiro). If you want to escape, you must walk or run.

It has the same health bars, same UI, rally mechanic from bloodborne, shortcuts, broken story telling, ominous item descriptions, "estus", bonfires, death runs, soul recovery, etc etc etc. .... they are very aware of what they are copying. It's not a bad thing either.

There are a lot of similarities to BB, which is not a bad thing. Concerning your pro tip, you need to cap the game at 30 fps to get the dodge working as intended. After that, you can dodge through incoming attack without issue. There is a technical issue there, not a gameplay or skill one.
