Fighting the boss feels awful
The dodge is too short and the boss attacks are way too fast with minimal tells.

EDIT: I think the animations are not scaling properly with higher frame rate... I locked the game to 30 instead of the 90 I was playing at before and beat the boss first try. (yes this is speculation and I have no data to back it up I'm not Digital Foundry sorry)

EDIT 2: I played the demo a second time after messing around with all the weapons at the training dummies in the hotel. Didn't use dodge at all only block and the gameplay felt a lot better on my second run. So don't bother with the dodge is my advice if the gameplay feels bad for you as well.

Was struggling with the timings at 165fps. Capped it to 60 and could perfect parry stun lock boss with ease. It was a complete nightmare at higher fps.

Dodge is my main issue in this game. It has a very noticeable input latency,

make sure you let go of the button as soon as possible. the dodge comes out when you let go of the button, not when you press it. all the souls games and elden ring are like that too and every time one of those games comes out a bunch of people complain about "dodge input latency" and i've never had issues in any of them

I guess the dodge really isn't that great or useful compared to the parries.

This game is even more parry focused than Sekiro. That should tell you everything. The game even says you can't dodge the red attacks you need to parry them to avoid damage.

I read that tip in the loading screen or where ever it was. But I didn't expect the dodge to be that bad in comparison. I tried to run away from the red attack and sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't because the tracking on certain attack really chases you down even if you run at full speed away

Either the dodge needs to be buffed with a bigger distance and so you don't collide with enemies when you i-frame, or perfect guards need to be made more lenient.
Then they won't be perfect. :steamhappy: As it is, it's a bit hard to time them at first, but you can do it consistently. When they're lenient, it's hard to tell where the leniency starts and ends.

What's your point?

That people keep playing it the same way as dark souls and whining instead of learning the mechanics which are different, it is more like Sekiro.

I mean the game is literally Dark Souls in every other way imaginable. Why would you blame them for expecting the gameplay to not be the same as well?

Hell the cutscene before the 2nd boss is literally shot for shot the cutscene of the bell gargoyles from DS1

Cuz it has different mechanics its not a 1:1 copy of its combat, and people are rather whining than learning.

I guess not everyone is good at seeing things from the perspective of other people that differs to their own.

If I have to cap the game at 30 fps in order to properly play the game, this is a deal breaker for me, aside from the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cheap repair weapon mechanic that makes you stand still like a moron for 7 seconds in the middle of a boss fight, WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA??

I locked game at 60 fps so wasn't overly difficult to beat the boss. It was okay, not blown away or anything, felt very raidroaded to certain playstyle like for example Sekiro and I thought that game sucked hard
Hoa Pierre Jun 9, 2023 @ 9:08pm
U can play both styles in this game which is good, dodging is good parrying is good, there's a balance, but the experience could be smoother
