Edit to clarify: blue hair lady in hotel.
wth I talked to her multiple times before and she never offered to level me. They need to make that change clearer.
You just need to exhaust all the dialogue of the doll. No need to talk to everyone, even though you should.
Bad example as only DS1 had that. In DeS, DS2 & 3, you need to talk the shrine maiden to level up.
Figuring out thing like that on your own is def. part of the "souls like" experience, that's why you need to talk to everybody and exhaust all dialogue. You'll be suprise of the things you'll learn.
I agree it's an obtuse and bad form of design. The game ended up having artificial difficulty cuz I couldn't spend the souls/ergo I acquired from beating the first boss. Yeah this is an L.
