Input lag dodge
I really liked the demo but there is a big flaw for me: dodging!

Between the moment you press the dodge button and the moment the character performs the dodge, there is too much waiting time!

So I have to anticipate enemy attacks but also this input lag!

Am I the only one feeling this?

(I played 3 Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Elden Ring and never had this problem)

It functions the same as in the other games you mentioned. It happens the moment you release the button. You likely notice it more because the roll isn't quite as powerful in this game with what feels like a smaller invulnerability window and distance.

Thankfully I never noticed the main mechanical failure of From Soft's other games, the absurd input buffer. I never once failed to dodge an attack only for my roll to come out the moment I recover from it a whole second later causing me to get hit by a second attack like in the dark souls games.
I do not agree and I confirm that the input lag is too important. As soon as the button is pressed the character should dodge instantly, and not wait a few milliseconds (which are huge for this kind of game).

Because run and dodge share the same button, dodging happens only when you release the button

Simply false. BB and ER do not react when pressed, but when released. Same as this game. You've never played the souls game. This is a classic complaint that has always been with souls games since the old days. But Nowadays, this mostly comes from people new to souls games.
If there is really an input delay, it doesn't happen only on certain buttons. Input lag is closely related to system performance and should occur in all buttons. In addition, if input lag occurs, the probability of frame drops in the game increases. However, I have yet to hear any complaints about frame drops. on any platform

I just compared with Dark Souls II and there is a higher latency on Lies of P.
For me it's a major problem that wants to be a souls-like.

I just tried the demo. I turned off vsync and set a FPS cap of 60. The dodging feels like it has the same delay as Elden Ring. Not sure what to tell you. There may be some kind of unique hardware incompatibility with your system. My experience with the demo is pretty similar to ER.

I disabled V-Sync but there are bugs in the image so I left it, I set the FPS to 60.
So I just recompared with Elden Ring and the dodge is not exactly the same. In lies Of P the character dodges over a shorter distance I feel.

This is definitely true. It feels more like the quickstep skill from ER instead of a full dodge roll.

I don't know if it's imput lag or dodge animation, but it feels incredibly clunky compared to Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Nioh, Code Vein and other DS clones.

Actually, it feels like Bloodborne, i.e. locked at 30 fps. Maybe the game uses 30 fps animations and controls even when rendering at higher fps?

Tried with or without vsync, and didn't notice any difference other than horrible screen tearing w/o vsync.

P.S. The game ran at stable 60 fps for me, but controls feel really sluggish. I will probably buy this only with a heavy discount somewhere in the future.

That's a completely different subject. That has nothing to do with input lag. What he said is the input method of the button, and is exactly the same as ER. Way of Dodge is similar to BB, not ER

I totally agree with you on all points.
I feel less alone.

I also have image tearing without the V-Sync

I will add that I play on a PS5 controller; and the displayed keys are those of X-Box...

Yes, but I've never been bothered in Elden Ring or Bloodborne, so there's a problem somewhere in the programming or the framerate.

problem somewhere..? really a very specific and objective claim lol.
If there's one thing that FS gets criticized by souls fan, it's optimization, and if there's one thing this game does better than FS, it's optimization and frame rendering. It has already been proven by many benchmarks and rendering tests. You're probably the first to criticize performance. lol
