Is this game still good and relevant?
Looking to get back into it, I like having a Pokemon competitor that takes it in a different direction

But I also know games like this that blow up with hype and popularity tend to die down quick. Does this game still get updates and changes and do people still regularly play

It's buggy EA jank. Don't play multiplayer unless it's with people you trust, and back up your saves.

There are lots of cute pals to collect, especially the dragons. I think it's worth the money, but you're gonna be janking it up for a while, possibly forever.
https://steamdb.info/app/1623730/charts/ game's sitting around regularly 100k active players, dont know if thats considered relevant i never cared about those numbers

about updates, its gotten around 2 updates a month though its mostly been bugfixes and adjusting some game mechanics like how temperature works. they're planning to make managing pals in the base possible, introducing their first raid boss and for an anti-cheat in official servers they only announced it and personally i think the anti-cheat's going to take some months. ark survival took 6 month's to introduce theirs but that was years ago and palworld might not take that long to introduce theirs

There is plenty to do and explore, so yep. A easy 100+ hour of content.

The game blew up and people played it. It's dying down now because they finished. Elden Ring went through the same thing, heck lots of games do. Palworld doesn't have much replayability since you don't usually customize Pals much. I loved the game to death and played for over a hundred hours but it's done now and time to put it down. So I too am not one of the users on the player lists making the game appear "dead" but it was thoroughly worth the price I paid and the time I enjoyed.

People still play even games like ARK and RUST years later after both those games fell off. Just find a community server or do singleplayer or start one with friends. You'll have fun like it's Pokemon World. Then you'll run out of things to do and be done with it. This isn't a bad thing, all games come to end. JRPG ones usually after only 24 hours, so this one lasts longer than most.

idk...I stream and I wouldn't want to rush this type of game. It is fun and unique enough to not be boring. Gathering all the stuff to make pal items, bases, etc., takes a long time and I would hate to grind that so fast >.>. I think it has worth playing potential but remember it's still in mind that its early access! Just have fun!

They don't seem to be doing regular updates I don't see the game lasting very long, seems like they're waiting for a buyout

It's still early access. I'm not gonna be like the others and scream violence because there are no updates every month. I've got 3000 hours in gta5.... you know that game has yearly updates.... I'm patient enough to wait. Let the devs work their magic. You can't rush magic or you get microtransactions and half baked ideas.

Using GTA is a horrible example, people who weren't even born when GTA released are in middle school now dude..

Dont worry its gonna get updates, yeah the playerbase has dwindled from its boom of popularity back on release, but they'll keep on updating it, like the recent annoucements and the road map, considering the company in worst case scenario: if it ever gets abandoned they will most sure make a public announcement, else they'll get lawyers up their asses.

And yeah gotta be patient, nah I dont expect a Pizza Tower scenario, which took like over a year to finally get that update (it was a pretty good update tho)

Lol describing a game as "relevant". Damn I hate gamer culture.
Jack Riddles Mar 20, 2024 @ 1:43am
not relevant at all, zero people on official servers and 11 on private... they gonna ditch this s**t harder than craftopia

a quick look into craftopia and in the last 7 months they've released an update once a month. games 4 years old by now so i dont see them slacking off on palworld either like you said

You're free to think that of course but every bit of real world evidence shows that to be objectively wrong. Not only are they releasing regular updates to the game (as they are with their other popular game in EA) they have also said that they have no intention of selling out.

I took a quick lok into it and a quick look at reviews shows it's plagued with the exact same issues as Palworld and those are over 4 years old by now so it doesn't help your case.

They can't even do basic QOL for a refrigerator running on electricity and not a cooling pal all the time so only time will tell, right now it looks like they're fine with failure as long as they get paid
