when breeding there is a random chance to get an random passive skill, these are usually undesireable because it screws up getting a perfect offspring.
catching them is way faster to get a desireable passive skill, there are only around 40 passive skills so on average you should get one if you catch 40 pals.
when breeding the offspring can inherit the passive skills of both parents but thats rng, if either parent has swift and the other runner then the offspring has a high chance of inheriting both passive skills.
best breeding method is where each parent only has 2 passive skills each, or conversely where one parent has 3 passive skills and the other has just 1.
In the case of Faleris i wouldnt recommend either method, it spawns too rarely. its faster to catch a bunch of vanwyrms, breed those for the passive skills you want and then breed that vanwyrm with an anubis to get a faleris.
i would breed an anubis instead (example penking + bushi) without passive skills or the passive skills you want
