How does Vampiric work?
Does the 5% lifesteal work per tic of damage or per move used?

I believe you life steal % of the dmg you deal when shooting / hitting Pals. As in if you burn enemy; it wont tick life steal to you every time the burn ticks. It only applies to physical dmg done by player.
Note that I am not sure if ABILITY usage gives life steal aswell, I would imagine not as they are abilities. Think its just your own personal attacks.

only done by the player? Not by the pal?
Vampiric is completely not worth for combat.
Using demon god or even musclehead is better than have a very small (5%) amout of life steal

Semirotta is likely talking about the Partner Skill Felbat and Lovander have which gives the Pal and Tamer Life Steal while active. Vampiric uses the same stat but only applies to the Passive user and has a different amount of Life Steal. If you want to test the effect before breeding it onto something try the two mentioned Pal's Partner Skill.

Vampiric is difficult to fit. Burn and Poison prevents natural health regen so on a Pal that is not Water or Fire element it's likely better than Diamond Body for that alone, assuming it hits hard enough.
Vampiric has the same issue most healing options in Palworld have - in any fight where you actually NEED healing the healing is way too small to make a difference, so you're better off taking something else (either more damage or more defense) instead.

There's one notable exception.
Knocklem.
This pal gets crazy multipliers for atk and def so all those damage passives don't do a lot and he also wants to be out and tank through everything, making lifesteal a very good choice.
However that's probably the only pal where that passive is worth it.
Looks like nobody here has mentioned Bella with Vampiric at the new oil rig.
THAT is probably the best use for Vamp 👌 she can (almost) wipe the rig alone.
Vamp/Siren/Demon/Serenity.

In that case you're better off using Felbat or Lovander though, those have a natural 6% life steal for both themselves AND you, if you go with a DPS build for yourself you can easily out heal the damage being dealt to you (and if you deploy your pal under the mesh, such as a shipping container, you don't need to worry about them dying)

That being said Vampiric IS better than defensive traits in most cases as long as you've gone pure DPS with the rest. For most Raid/Tower encounters you will see around 15-20k total HP healed over the course of the fight, which is significantly more than the 2.5-5k damage Legend or Diamond Body would have prevented.

I think you need to see her performance.
You're right, Felbat or Lova have natural lifesteal, and they share it with you. BUT, they DON'T TELEPORT AROUND. I think Bella is the only Pal that can teleport and attack. She's beyond godlike at the rig. It's quite sad Dark is useless in raids for example...

Bushi: Am I a joke to you?
Splatterina teleports too.
to put this accurately:
  • the "Vampiric" Passive skill lifesteals 5% of damage done, restoring the health of the designated pal with the passive skill, but only from active abilities used by the pal. (vampiric does not tick on damage coming from status aggregation like poison or burning, caused by active abilities.)
  • Vampiric also makes a pal nocturnal, allowing them to continue carrying out tasks even at night if they are not already a dark type, have the nocturnal passive trait or coded as a unique case like lovander.
  • by extension: Felbat/Lovander's Partner skill grants both the pal and the tamer up to 10% lifesteal (depending on the level of pals condensed into the one) but operates similarly in that status aggregations are not affected by the partner skills either, only on damage from direct hits, be it coming from pals to heal the pal, or tamers using weapons like the rocket launcher, plasma rifle, etc. to heal the tamer respectively.
