DLC suggestion "Ocean update"
Something I feel that would benefit the game and add a lot more life to it would be to populate the sea and give more water functionality, being able to build bases, improving on the swimming mechanics, fishing, and even more sea life pals.

I agree, currently the only reason to use water mounts is that the oil rigs have anti-air turrets which stop you from flying there. The seas are just featureless planes with no reason to be there except when going to islands. Letting water mounts "fly underwater" to let you explore underwater areas would be perfect!

Technology/gameplay/pal ideas:
- rebreathers/snorkels to increase how long you can stay underwater without needing to resurface for air
- guns and bows won't work underwater, but there's new tridents and harpoon guns which do
- Aquatic Foundation, which can be built on water unlike regular foundations. Could maybe be part of a whole aquatic/pirate themed set?
- Underwater foundation/base sets (subnautica style) can be built to provide you with an oxygen supply, but are super high level (61-65 range?). Alternatively, building the new underwater-approved Palbox creates a bubble of air in the base area.
- a clam pal which has very high defense, but drops valuable pearls if you manage to defeat it. Its pal skill would be a stronger version of Lamball's shield skill?
- also more aquatic pals: fish, sea cucumber (water/grass, focused on health regeneration and counterattack damage), coral (water/ground, high defense), regular jellyfish (water/electric, spawns in large packs) etc
- Underwater oil drilling equipment, which lets you harvest crude oil faster than is possible on land. Perhaps it needs to be powered by strong watering pals?
- Hydrothermal vents spew out tons of minerals which means there's tons of ore nodes around them, but you need high tier heat protection to go near
- pals living near the hydrothermal vents could be fire/water type to introduce a new previously unseen combination
- New fishing rods and cage traps which could be used to catch water pals.
I'm totally against the idea to add oxygen or any kind of mechanic that makes me need to manage a resource to survive. I really hate survival games, this is already on the edge for me with the hunger mechanic and cold/hot mechanics.

Would they add snorkel or rebreathers with an oxygen mechanic, i just quit play .

That was probably one of the most disappointing things to me when I first played Palworld.

I was kinda hoping we'd be able to swim underwater and catch Water Pals kinda like we can do in ARK with water creatures but sadly we can't.

I would very much love to see underwater mechanics become a thing in Palworld but I expect this would take a serious amount of time and resources to actually make a reality so I doubt it will.

Unlike ARK the game wasn't designed with this in mind so god knows what kind of issues it could cause trying to implement it now, so many Pal behaviours and abilities would need reworking etc.
That said though if the developers were willing to make this happen, it would absolutely be something I'd be willing to pay for as a DLC or something.

Add to that the potential of it would be huge, I am already thinking about things like raiding a Syndicate Submarine, that would be cool.

I feel like ocean content is coming at some point. Fishing I'm all but certain will be in (there is that one pre-alpha trailer where the player uses a jolthog on a rod to kill a bunch of fish...), but the simple fact that there's a fair bit of water on the map that is completely unutilised outside of basic correlation to finding water pals (near land) says to me that they'll want/need to do something with it eventually. Water pals have little to no non-combat relevance save as an optional safe bet for approaching oil rigs, and don't really have any broad-purpose utility beyond that outside of the watering role in bases. Ocean/water content will fill that gap nicely.

I do agree with Irene/Rem regarding water generally not being fun. I do not, however, think it's impossible to make fun. It just tends to be implemented so poorly in so many games that players automatically assume it's going to be terrible, which... is fair. It would be nice to see a developer do it justice, because there's a lot you can do with water/underwater play. And given how streamlined most of the UI/UX/gameplay loops in the game are, I can't really imagine Pocketpair hafl-assing it.

I'd like to see much faster all-round water pal movement in water, with non-water, non-floating pal stamina tied to their ability to stay afloat in water, not just move in it. Currents/rips and waves. Schools of fish and other aquatic life, some of it dangerous (pirahna pals, for example, or sharks). Unique movement/dodging mechanics on/under water (obviously pal-centric, but perhaps also tied to player gear; the tower boots/belt already lay a foundation for this sort of thing). I don't mind oxygen being a factor, as long as it's not stupidly quick to run out (looking at you, wildcard...). Fire, water, and grass moves behaving differently if used underwater. Carnivore frenzies occurring as a result of prolonged fights (ie. the aforementioned predator fish/sharks swarming combat zones due to blood in the water). Underwater treasure. A water legendary.

Lots of potential for the water bodies. But it depends on what the devs want to do, and how far they're willing to flesh out the game. I imagine if we do get it, it'll be after the world map is finished (ie. all new islands are in), since they'll need to map around them in order to implement the water content properly.

I actually watched that trailer a few weeks ago.. there is a ton of stuff featured in it that never made it into the game.. im kinda hoping it's stuff that is still planned since the game is in early access.

But...this IS a survival game, it's highly unlikely that more resource management *won't* be coming

The announcement trailer released 3 years ago, I'll pop a link below.

There is a lot in this trailer that hasn't made it into the game so far.

Direwolves pulling a ridable cart.

Player mount sliding while turning sharply to aim.

The house construction sequence 20 seconds in doesn't exist in the game, the one we do have is completely different.

Farming system is different.

Cows harvesting wheat with some kind of farming equipment, doesn't exist in the game.

Destructable enemy bases don't exist, outside of canons/turrets.

Not sure what the Monkey's are doing at 1:07 but that device doesn't exist in the game either.

There's a scope scene indicating a sniper rifle or something which doesn't exist in the game.

Grizzbolt covering the player then the player pop's out to shoot mimicing wall cover mechanics in other shooters, that doesn't exist in Palworld to my knowledge.

Fishing with Joltic to knock out underwater pals.. nothing like that exists, even underwater Pals.

Boss NPC on a Jormuntide at the end who doesn't exist in the game.. possible an original concept for a Water based boss fight.

Suffice to say this trailer showcases almost a completely different game to the one we actually got.
But to be fair Palworld is an early access game so it makes me really curious to think how many of these original concepts are still planned to be part of the final game and how many simply ended up being sidelined or cut entirely.

Yeah... glad I never saw this before getting Palworld because that looks fantastic and interesting. It looks like it is on a completely different engine as well compared to what we have now. I want to play that game.

IMO, all that content was cut(lawsuit also doesn't help) because current Palworld looks to be completely different, just as you said. Not to say that Palworld is bad, but right now it is rather middling when it comes to a lot of things.

I'm more in the wait and see camp myself, it's possible some of that stuff just hasn't been a priority for the developers..
Game is in early access after all, so there's still a chance some of it may end up being added eventually.

I'm not a huge fan of underwater/ocean areas but I could see how this game would benefit from such stuff. So I agree.

From what I've heard it wasn't "cut", it never existed in the first place (the actual game wasn't playable when the trailer was made, it's all animated in Blender)
