predator pals
i restarted recently as they had been some big updates and wanted to see all.

early levels i started to need predator cores. im 53 now just about finished all the middle green islands volcano and dessert and i have seen one predator pal to date and it was 20 levels higher than me and unkillable at the time.

are these things meant to be both this rare and this out of sync with the local normal fauna?

Predator pals range from level 25 all the way up to level 60. You will meet a level 25 direhowl over at Ice Wind Island for instance.

There's the location for the Predator Pals. Keep in mind they are not guaranteed to spawn. If you don't see one in that area, try another one and come back to it later.
I can't say this is 100% fool proof but what I do is...

I know a few places that spawn the predators, so I'd clear out all the pals and humans in the area and eventually they would spawn. I think if things are spawned in the predators area they won't show up till the other things there are gone so they can spawn.
Predator pals are meant to be so much higher than the region they are in, yeah. But same with some dungeons: Dessert dungeons are like level 38 while you can find level 40,45 or even 50 enemies in the dessert area (and I am not talking about the 3 alpha pals).

But at some point, predator pals are easy once you have some condensed pals or with good passives. I have a schadowbeak 4* with demon god, legendary, muscle head and something else I forgot. He one shots the bird right before the dessert town lol.

So while they are supposed to be tough for the time when you encounter them in their region, they will be so much easier later on if you just have some proper pals.

But there are maps that do include the different predator pals and you can simply select the lower ones to kill. But be aware of their beam attack :D

They do not appear all the time. There are a bunch of lower level predators but they do not appear all the time when you pass there. Like, in the big dessert, there is a town. If you teleport there, right in front of the town there should be a predator bird. That is one that I kill every few ingame days. Sometimes you have to fly away and get back there until it spawns.

Else there is a predator relaxosaurus level 30 somewhere near the starting village.

And at the south of the volcano area, a bit further to the left of the volcano village, there is a predator digtoise. And those are just a few examples. Like I mentioned, there is a palworld map where you can see many things, predator pals included.
Yeah be ready when you fight these Predator Pals. They bring the Pain. >.<
More HP, DEF and more Moves.

And Clear out the area around them if you can because there's all the other Pals will get pull into the fight and it will become a **** show real quick. >_<'

the beam attack kicked me ass, and then it teleported to my location and grabbed me. that did massive dmg as well. i was 34 fighting a 31 predator pal and it destroyed me.

any tips for avoiding both those attacks?

From what I've seen there seems to be a few different conditions Predator pals spawn under.
Some are guaranteed spawns every day.
Some spawn every other day.
a lot of them seem to be "event spawns" (much in the same way things like Dr. Brawn etc work) and by reloading the area a few times they might appear.

Little tips from me, every time you find one predator pal, after you kill it (or before if you have time) open your map and put a mark where it spawn.

They always spawn at the same place so you can just go there every few days and kill it for core.

If you go there and it not there, just fly away like 100m and go check it again, do that till it's there.

here some easy location for some predator

Relaxaurus: North from Bridge of the Twin Knight (Fast travel point NW from the Desolate Church)
Tarantriss: NW from the Relaxaurus Predator (can easily check both)
Direhowl: SSW from Dumud Alpha in Ice Wind Island
