If you want to stick with your old save, it's not really that complicated, i'm sure you will understand all again in less than couple hours just by playing around.
Thanks guys.
If I was you, I'd do a new start, and turn on "Random Pals", and maybe "All Pals Random Levels" as well.
This keeps your game fresh, and you're able to find the new Pals from the newer updates without having to do a bunch of crap just in order to get to the new islands.
I intend to make a new file, and start out just like that when the Random Pals first came out. It was insanely fun, going to even turn on Random Levels, since they made it an option and not mandatory before, which was how I originally played it. Love seeing lvl 60 Pals in the starting zone, and being terrified of animals with Magic Powers that could destroy humanity.
yeah I forget when they added it, I think with the newest island they released a bit back. It's actually a super fun way to play the game.
Especially since I myself, never made it to Sakurajima Island in a normal run, so literally had a bunch of new Pals I've never seen before in the starting Area, and actually being scared of Pals, rather than the first thing you do once you hop in is a punch chicken... Well Said chicken can still be around, but it might punch you back, and hard!
I can also tell you from firsthand experience, it is terrifying (but fun).
At the initial spawn, I had Lv 10 Robinquil Terra, so I had to pretty much run for my life, right out the gate.
Flopie was the only Pal I could catch at first. I've never been so glad to see a Flopie. Finally had a Pal to fight for me.
But also, got to get a hold of late-game Pals early. Like Tarantiss or Faleris around Lv 18. (though the latter's saddle still doesn't unlock until the 40's)
You do have to re-think the way you do things.
Such concepts are far from new. During the Golden Age of Play writing people had more free time then ever before so they pushed for longer plays. However sitting on public seating in the Renascence era for 4 to even 8 hours gets unpleasant to say the least.... The peasants didn't have "nose bleeder seats" they sat on the ground with their own blanket... For hours. So they added breaks which caused yet another issue. People returning from breaks were confused about events when the plot instantly continued. To fix this interludes, side skit loosely relevant to the plot, were devised. Thus the audience had time to remember what the hell was going on before it became relevant again. The thought process for interludes is also what created half time shows for sport events. I sure hope you are at least loosely familiar with one of those concepts.
You could also get screwed over too, by never seeing anything that produces "Wool" like a Lamball at the beginning and never see it until you go to a diff Island. I had that happen a few times >.>. All part of the fun though.
In random mode wool still can be found on the ground, and sold by merchants. There is also a chance you can see a species without realizing it allowing you to see on the map where you have a greater chance of finding more.
