Mainly because it increases the odds of tasks being completed automatically.
I noticed that my Pals were occasionally ignoring it in my main base for other tasks but adding it to other bases increased the odds of an idle Pal taking on the research task.
Sometimes they may bug out and not return to it as well.
The AI scripts still have some kinks to work out.
I assigned 2 Jormuntide Ignis to work on the same Kindling project from 2 different bases.
Was testing to see if assigning one to work on it after already assigning one in another base to work on it would cancel the original one out.
It didn't, hopping back and fore the two bases both of them remained working on the Research task.
And yes, from what I could tell it does increase the speed the project completes so it's definitely worth having multiple Research structures.
