it would be close to finished if it didn't say early access on the store page
If you find the Pal work proficiency books, you can increase those skills more (though not above rank 5).
The downside is they're kinda rare.
That's why the devs started tweaking the odds a bit on those recently, including giving them a slightly better chance than before to spawn in elemental chests.
Oh really? I haven't even found one of those books, I didn't realize they existed. Well looks like I have more reason to go looking then lol.
Then they did Z moves which were basically "I win" buttons for bad players who suck at the gmaes.
Then it was Pokemon Morbidly obese edition for a few turns which was utterly stupid and very much another version of the "I win" button since the new moves they got would negate defensive moves like protect, almost killing the strategy element of combat.
And now they got that crystal thing in the newest garbage games that look worse than upscaled HD N64 titles..
Mechanically this gimmick isn't terrible, allowing pokemon to change types adds a level of strategy to battles, though it would have been far more interesting to have pokemon adopt a 3rd type instead which would make it even more strategic focused and make players think more about types and move combos in regard to the mechanic.
Visually though it's one of the dumbest looking of all the mechanics.
Lets give cool looking Pokemon a giant crystal hat.. yay thanks for making my cool pokemon look ridiculous Gamefreak.
This isn't the worst sin in S/V though, that's by far the majority of the new pokemon designs which are complete trash imo.
Mega evos are by far the best looking and most fun of these gimmicks, it's just a shame they give so many to pokemon that didn't need/deserve them and ignored so many pokemon that did.
Yeah I been saying that from day 1 as well, there's not that much pokemon like in this game at all.
Arguably the Pal designs are the majority of it, many Pals could easily be be taken for Fakemons and many of them look more like potential Pokemon than most of the newer Pokemon designs themselves..
That's hardly Pockets Fault though.
Gamefreak have always had some misses with some Pokemon Designs.. even as far back as Gen1.. Jinx and Mr Mime for example are pretty bad pokemon designs.
But the misses were always the exception not the rule, up until sword and shield where the misses became around half of the new pokemon.. and then S/V topped it off with almost the entire roster of new pokemon being among the worst designs GF have ever put out.
They even managed to make a bunch of older pokemon with great designs look utterly ******** in the new game.. Id be impressed by such a catastrophic failure if it didn't P me off so much seeing a franchise i've loved for almost 30 years get so ruthlessly abused by it's creators.
Thank god for for options though, Coromon, Nexomon, Temtem to name a few exist for those of us who still wish to have some kind of good new Pokemon like experiences, and of course there's always the older Pokemon games too.
But yeah in terms of gameplay, this game is almost 100% ARK with a bit of some other open world survival sandboxes mixed in.
Climbing for example being more or less copied straight out of Conan Exiles, which was possibly inspired by Breath of the Wild since Conan added it a couple months after that game came out.
Gameplay wise Palworld shares basically nothing in common with any Pokemon games, except that crappy Legends one but even then the similarities are almost non existent and what do exist are elements that Nintendo has no claim over what so ever as they all existed years before in other games or by extension mods.
