Palworld can be better than Pokemon, with major updates.
Now, don't get me wrong, Pokemon is the heart of this type of genre it practically created it. But with the direction Palworld is going with these constant major updates for accessibility and New additions it could beat Pokemon in the digital aspect rather than cards. Keep in mind I love both games and they are both amazing titles but Palworld could bring a new level higher in additions than Pokemon. But still, Pokemon is still way better in terms of open world and lore. Just my opinion don't get enraged by it.

Then... don't play it? Uninstall, remove from library, hide everything about the game from your profile?
If you aren't having fun, then why even bother?
Research Obsessive Compulsive Disorder... or Autism more generally. I'm not going to explain it as I'd do a poor job of it. Long story short... once I've started something, I must finish it. Failure to finish it is torture.

Fair assessment, but how am I supposed to know when it is finished or not?
I thought it WAS finished multiple times already... but apparently not.

A game is complete when i decide it's complete by my standards.
It's really subjective. For some is gather all achivements, for others is clear the content, for others is catch all the creatures 12 times each, for even more is never complete, they keep play it even after having achived all the previous ones.
My absolute baseline is that I will get all achievements in every game I play.
If I still want to play the game after that then good... great even... but with most games I've usually had quite enough by the time I get that 100%... and for quite a few I'm practically screaming inside and yearning to be rid of the game before I get to 100%. I wouldn't even start a game if I knew it was going to end up that way... but all the same it does end up that way quite often... to the point where I'm sometimes afraid to even play games I've bought.
It isn't like I can ignore them though. Once I've started a game I need to get all the achievements before I can move on... even if it takes me years. And having to reinstall old games because new achievements were added doesn't make things any easier.

it would be close to finished if it didn't say early access on the store page

I'd like for this as well. I was really happy to see the pal extracting could boost work efficiency, but then when I realized it only can increase by one level, I was really bummed out. I'm totally fine having to grind more for lower tier pals, but I'd just like to be able to use the cute pals that I like work at my base without a loss for efficiency.

If you find the Pal work proficiency books, you can increase those skills more (though not above rank 5).
The downside is they're kinda rare.
That's why the devs started tweaking the odds a bit on those recently, including giving them a slightly better chance than before to spawn in elemental chests.

Oh really? I haven't even found one of those books, I didn't realize they existed. Well looks like I have more reason to go looking then lol.
just add portals to another maps islands and make it infinite
Palworld already is better than Pokemon and that's why Nintendo is pissed and trying to find any possible way to sue the devs and kill the game.

IMO it already is. Every single pokemon game is copy-paste of previous ones. The only thing really changing are the storyline and pokemons found around. Unfortunately ever since generation 3 or 4, the Pokemons went to disgusting poor low effort mode. Everything is so stupid now in Pokemon. Mega evolutions? what is this, Digimon!? Pokemon fell off the good train long ago. Time we got better options and nintendo does not like that.

Mega evolutions were awesome tbh.

Then they did Z moves which were basically "I win" buttons for bad players who suck at the gmaes.

Then it was Pokemon Morbidly obese edition for a few turns which was utterly stupid and very much another version of the "I win" button since the new moves they got would negate defensive moves like protect, almost killing the strategy element of combat.

And now they got that crystal thing in the newest garbage games that look worse than upscaled HD N64 titles..
Mechanically this gimmick isn't terrible, allowing pokemon to change types adds a level of strategy to battles, though it would have been far more interesting to have pokemon adopt a 3rd type instead which would make it even more strategic focused and make players think more about types and move combos in regard to the mechanic.
Visually though it's one of the dumbest looking of all the mechanics.
Lets give cool looking Pokemon a giant crystal hat.. yay thanks for making my cool pokemon look ridiculous Gamefreak.

This isn't the worst sin in S/V though, that's by far the majority of the new pokemon designs which are complete trash imo.

Mega evos are by far the best looking and most fun of these gimmicks, it's just a shame they give so many to pokemon that didn't need/deserve them and ignored so many pokemon that did.

It’s not really a Pokémon competitor it’s more like the Ark we never got. They’re essentially the same games except instead of taming ugly dinosaurs you have cute creatures to capture.

Yeah I been saying that from day 1 as well, there's not that much pokemon like in this game at all.

Arguably the Pal designs are the majority of it, many Pals could easily be be taken for Fakemons and many of them look more like potential Pokemon than most of the newer Pokemon designs themselves..

That's hardly Pockets Fault though.
Gamefreak have always had some misses with some Pokemon Designs.. even as far back as Gen1.. Jinx and Mr Mime for example are pretty bad pokemon designs.
But the misses were always the exception not the rule, up until sword and shield where the misses became around half of the new pokemon.. and then S/V topped it off with almost the entire roster of new pokemon being among the worst designs GF have ever put out.
They even managed to make a bunch of older pokemon with great designs look utterly ******** in the new game.. Id be impressed by such a catastrophic failure if it didn't P me off so much seeing a franchise i've loved for almost 30 years get so ruthlessly abused by it's creators.
Thank god for for options though, Coromon, Nexomon, Temtem to name a few exist for those of us who still wish to have some kind of good new Pokemon like experiences, and of course there's always the older Pokemon games too.

But yeah in terms of gameplay, this game is almost 100% ARK with a bit of some other open world survival sandboxes mixed in.
Climbing for example being more or less copied straight out of Conan Exiles, which was possibly inspired by Breath of the Wild since Conan added it a couple months after that game came out.

Gameplay wise Palworld shares basically nothing in common with any Pokemon games, except that crappy Legends one but even then the similarities are almost non existent and what do exist are elements that Nintendo has no claim over what so ever as they all existed years before in other games or by extension mods.
