Electric Furnace.... What's the point?
So, I just made an Electric Furnace to get some Palmetal Ingots, because I was tired of just finding them out in the wild.

So, I have no problem with electricity as I have an Azuremane to keep everything running, and 3 other junction boxes volted up too to keep everything running. But the Electric Furnace is kind of a lie.

So first off, the Electric Furnace is "needed" to make Pal Metal Ingots, which fine, that's fair. It requires Electricity, again, makes sense based on what it's called... So... Why do I need a Pal to Blow fire on it? This literally makes no sense, and it either should not require Kindling, or should not require Electricity. It's simply the same as the other furnaces, and the idea you need electricity to power this on top of a Pal with kindling is beyond Bizarre.

I mean I have a Jormingtide Ignis in my base as well for lvl 4 Kindling, but, if a furnace requires electricity, I'd rather have my fire Pals be doing something else, like cooking.

Padding enhancements by requiring more work be put into it.

To make Plasteel, the temperature must be perfect at every corner. The fire pal inject an unstable heat wave and the electric machine rotates the material to master craft it. It is truly advanced technology and I don't know what I'm talking about.

It actually produces at higher speeds.
The electric furnace has a speed rate of 3, compared to the primitive furnaces 1 and the improved furnaces 1.5
New tiers of materials require extra steps.
Such a new concept...

Because if it worked without a Pal what would the point of Pal be?

What this guy said... It makes it a ton faster! I think one of the first things I am rushing for towards end game is the electric furnace just so I don't have to wait two hours for things to cook haha

Literally nothing takes hours for anything to cook/smelt with a pal that has lvl 4 Kindling.

The entire point is, "why" is it taking the electricity resource, when it's clearly NOT using electricity to smelt ore?

The only reason it's using electricity is "because". that's the ONLY reason.

It makes perfect sense, it uses electricity to move the machinery, it uses Kindling to bring the metal up to temperature. What part of this doesn't make sense?

The last part u said is what op is saying Doesnt make sense.

They have a very good point. Look at this way a an electric clay kileen or an electric stove heats up via the electricity and doesnt need another source to heat it up.

The fact its an electric furnace by name implies the electricity would also heat it up. Exept u need a pal with Kindling to heat it up

Which is why op is saying it should be either electric or not.

Tbh this doesn't bother me really that's just what op is getting at.

Perhaps down the road as content is added there will be a full blown electric furnace that didn't need a Kindling pal

just gameplay balance i guess, wouldnt want electric pals to become the only base skill that matters

Depends on what world settings you're using.
It's just silly seeing people talk about stuff taking this or that long, like it's an universal truth, but you can literally alter it any way you want.
Not to mention servers have their own settings differing from each other.

The Electric cold crusher is the same. You need electricity to run it, and then a cold pal to operate it.
Its incredible to me how the logic and common sense is so beyond everyone in this thread... There is a very good and obvious reason why it uses both electricity and heat.... We use things every day that requires both electricity, and heat. Except since this is a fantasy world, the heat isn't always coming from a secondary source, its coming from Pal instead.

This isn't rocket science guys...
i mean... grabbing a fox that then turns into a flamethrower doesnt make sense either.

i tried to smash 128 jack russels into my jack russel to make it stronger but it just made a mess

it doesnt make sense bro!

does an electric oven require electricity and heat? no, it requires electricity and produces heat

if i have to provide the heat, then the electricity isn't doing anything

There are processing stages in the real world that require both heat, and electricity, both doing different jobs. Now in the real world, the electricity will be used to power another device within th emachine that'll help produce the heat, but that isn't even always the case either.

There are smelting techniques where you pour the hot metals, into an electrical charged plate, to create the processes. This can be whats happening here.

For gameplay purposes, its the next step, and like in every game, you take what you're doing already, and add to it. Thankfully there are real world equivalents close enough to say that's whats happening, with all these make believe ores, in a fantasy world, for those who get confused.

And for people who still want to whine and say it doesn't make sense... Its a fantasy world, with fantasy crafting, and fantasy make believe.. Make it up...

Maybe the ore and ingots your'e making are using a chemical processes through electricity (which is also a thing irl), and having the Pal then heat, and smelt the ore after the electrical chemical processes.. (Also happens irl)....

I mean really guys... again this isn't rocket science, and actually has a stance with real life things...
