There's 3 options on the podium (monitoring stand) if you hit the different keys presented. 1) Increase or decrease all Pal's working speeds. 2) Assign or remove specific tasks from a Pals available work list, such as not wanting them to lumber or do handywork but still want them to transport. 3) Specifically assign Pals to a workstation. Works similar to grabbing a pal and throwing them at it, but without the hassle
You can avoid that by going to the monitor stand and block a specific task so they only have handiwork left. So as long as they dont need to craft something, they should either sleep, feed themselves or do the research and nothing else.
You can also use the research thing over multiple bases.
