If you are specifically trying to beat a specific Pal with as much damage as possible then a 30% element boosting passive + Serenity + damage passives is what you want.
Now I'm going to show a few passives combos and what they could effectively add up to, this isn't exactly how it would add up in-game as I don't know how the Attack stat is used in damage calculations but it should give a rough idea.
Demon God+Musclehead+Ferocious+Legend = +100% Attack
Flame Emperor+Demon God+Musclehead+Legend = +80% Attack +20% Fire Damage = +116% Attack while using Fire
Eternal Flame+Demon God+Musclehead+Legend = +80% Attack +30% Fire Damage = +134% Attack while using Fire
Eternal Flame+Flame Emperor+Demon God+Musclehead = +60% Attack +50% Fire Damage = +140% Attack while using Fire
So as you can see it will increase overall damage with Fire skills but it leaves it really inflexible. Now you mentioned Jormuntide Ignis, this was likely to make things simple for you to describe but I'll throw out that while being ridden it gains increased Fire damage, specifically +50% by base or +100% when fully condensed, so with that here's some numbers with a fully condensed one in mind:
Demon God+Musclehead+Ferocious+Legend = +100% Attack +100% Fire Damage =
+300% Attack while using Fire
Eternal Flame+Demon God+Musclehead+Legend = +80% Attack +130% Fire Damage = +314% Attack while using Fire
Eternal Flame+Flame Emperor+Demon God+Musclehead = +60% Attack +150% Fire Damage = +300% Attack while using Fire
If you just want a really flexible attacker then Serentiy+Legend+Demon God is a very good base to start with, 4th can be Musclehead, Vampiric, Diamond Body or an elemental boost. Some people may even recommend Impatient over a 20% elemental boost purely because of flexibility.
That is a detailed list. I was going for Demon God, Diamond Body, Siren Of The Void and either Serenety or Legend. Then i got thinking that its for summoning altar base. So i figured maybe i switch out Demon God with Ice Emperor instead. So it would be 30% from Siren and 20% from Ice Emperor. I know its only 50% more, bu t i taught its more DMG because its fighting against something that is weak to that specific type.
On the other hand my logic say that if i have Demon God 30% DMG and 30% Siren ice DMG, its in total of 60% and its more.
Diamond body would give me DEF and serenety could make them moves faster.
So overall i do want to have 2 passives as DMG passives, but im still confused of what to do with them. Just go for DMG or go for specific type of DMG
I mostly play on settings that advantage me more. But i still want to breed best possible pals.
In the case of an Altar boss Musclehead, Demon God, 20% Elemental and 30% Elemental Damage should deal the highest amount. If you value what Legend does then replacing the 20% Elemental will yield the next best amount of damage.
A thing about Altar bosses is that from as far as I can see Pals will not stop to eat, and using attacks costs hunger, this means that if they live long enough they will starve and rapidly lose health. For that reason I'd suggest against Serenity and trying to raise their Defense, since eventually they will starve making Defense pointless and Serenity will make them attack more, draining their hunger faster. That said I still recommend Legend since it's a great value passive and that +20% Defense does a lot.
Guess it's going to be musclehead. Spent ton of time getting Siren of the Void onto Yakumo and then catching frostrallions. Turns out Yakumo dont pass that trait. Dammit
