Performence on Linux
Hi everybody!

Is it normal that my GPU is at 100% and FPS are around 60? graficcard is running wild XD
I'm playing on linux mint.

When is switch to Win11 my GPU is around 70-80% and i got around 120 FPS.
grafic-preset on both OS is high at 1440p.

specs:
AMD ryzen 3900x
32GB RAM
RTX 3080

Definitely not normal. I used to play this on mint with an RTX 970 and could get 60 most of the time at 100% usage. You should be able to get 60 at much lower utilization on a 3080. However, Palworld has been suffering from a lot of new performance bugs since Feybreak. Autosave hitching, performance degradation after 30min-1 hour of playing, buggy tree textures that explode across your screen, etc. A lot of windows players are having these issues too, and pocketpair have been decent at putting out bug/crash/performance patches prior. It should hopefully get better in a few minor patches. I'm already crashing less after the minor patch that came out today, for example.

thx for your answer. maybe i have to wait for patches. on the other side, in windows i've got no problems at all. played already serval hours the new content and no major bugs at all.

I would just like to chime in and mention that on Bazzite I get around 15 fps in just the menu. On Windows I get around 120 fps. I tried all the recommended proton versions and command arguments with no luck.
I used to have an issue on linux mint + kde5 wayland, where my FPS was fine on the main menu, but would drop below 1 on character select. But something changed. Not sure if a driver update, or changing proton versions, or what. But now I get similar FPS as I would on windows.

That said, I have some kinda weird memory leak. Probably video memory, because I don't see palworld using much memory in task manager. But after I play palworld for about an hour, it starts stuttering really bad when I move my mouse. Doesn't seem to matter what graphics settings I use, and the stutter fix mod unfortunately doesn't fix it either. My graphics card is older and only has experimental vulkan support however (and probably isn't getting driver updates), so I'm hoping a new graphics card will fix my specific issue.

Have you tried forcing a different proton version, like experimental?

@Izzu, I read your report on ProtonDB and wanted to reach out to you to say I found a solution. I tried to send you a chat message but I have to friend you in order to do so. You don't have to accept my friend request – I'll just leave the solution I found to the problem here:

Like you, I have an AMD GPU and an Intel CPU. My Intel CPU has an integrated GPU, and Palworld for whatever reason attempts to use it despite bazzite not listing it as a valid gaming GPU. If you're using Bazzite, turn on your performance overlay, which will list performance for your dGPU. It will be at or near 0%, because it's not in use.

I went to the BIOS and disabled the integrated GPU, and as a result… everything works as expected. Hopefully you see this and it helps!

Seems like a GPU issue if your GPU is being pegged at 100% and the CPU is barely working. Try using ProtonGE or Proton Experimental if you haven't yet. I have a similar setup and hit 120 fps high settings at 1440p on PopOS. You could also try setting your system to "performance mode" in your system options and see if that helps. You can download a free app called cpupower-gui to do it as well from the package manager.

Maybe their GPU is just into that... :urist::espresso:
