South of the small settlement was pretty messed up. I ended up surrounded by Blazehowls, Tocotocos, Warsects, and Lv.20 bandits with a minigun.
As Sans would say... I had a very bad time.
Died twice trying to run, had to teleport in, collect my dropped items, and run for the settlement as best as I could.
But so help me, I made it back with my goods.
(Thankfully, mine is set to only drop items, not equipment and tools)
At one point, some thug attacked me, and pretty much two-shot me near the settlement. Yikes.
------
But, I did get to have a laugh.
Near the canyon stream (southeast of Rayne Tower), there was a Lv.23 Moonflower Genin trying to charge me with a sword.
So... I just jumped across to the other bank. Then laughed as this clown ran all the way back to the wood bridge, ran around the hill and stairs by the teleporter, down the bank at me... and I just jumped back across.
And laughed hysterically as he then ran all the way back around again.
For like 10 minutes, I kept jumping back and forth, as this alleged ninja got in the MOTHER of all cardio workouts!
the fully randomized (at least on day one) was to much though.. level 50 alphas in the newbie area! i mean you could in theory eventually get around, there was a safe spot to build, just not the usual spot.
randomized by region was a bit tricky at start for the humans with guns spawning everywhere, but once i got a base up and leveled to 20 they are (mostly) not a problem.
Most of the spots that are "safe" that I've found thus far, as simply near the Churches/Cathedrals, sadly, it's only "safe", and Pals, and enemies can still spawn near those spots, and wander into your base. Thankfully, they don't seem to be aggressive towards your pals that are just minding their own business and working, but as soon as they spot you, it's game on, I was thinking of turning on Perma Death mode to make it even more challenging, but... maybe not on the third Randomizer option.
The Caverns are also kind of a hit and miss. You find tons of high level Caverns, and when you do find low level ones, even the monsters seem to be randomly generated with their levels inside as well. You'll end up getting lvl 6-24 normal enemies, and the boss will sometimes end up being lvl 50+.
Definitely tough at first, but once I got my bearings, and found a Nitewing (miraculously) and had access to a flying mount, things because much easier, and I was able to find monsters around my level a lot easier.
It's extremely Chaotic on the third option Randomizer, as Pals/enemies will go out of their way to attack one another, but it adds to the fun.
Since Lamball doesn't spawn at the beginner area anymore in this randomizer, Wool and cloth are trickier to come by, requiring outside the box thinking.
For my first outfit, I had to think fast, and when a wandering merchant visited my impromptu base. My Flopie got KO'ed, so I had to build a Palbox somewhere. Mine is currently between the Skill Fruit tree near the beginning and the Alpha Chillet area.
With the merchant, I even had to sell a hundred wood I chopped down freshly, but I managed to buy the Wool I needed. And made my cloth and outfit.
I'm now working on a solution to earn 2,000 coins, then check on the small settlement's Pal merchant now and then, in hopes he'll sell a Lamball eventually (I saw one in rotation once, but I was low on money).
------
Thankfully, at Lv.11, I'm able to handle a lot of things now. I caught one of those Robinquill Terra at the beginner hill. But the nearby LV.23 Cryolinx Terra reminds me to not get careless.
I also managed to catch a LV.10 Lovander to mine stone for me.
Combined with the Arsox I got from the raider camp (I watched from a cliff above as they fought a group of Dazzi, then started sniping the thugs with my bow. Got them, then swooped in and claimed the Arsox)... a lot of my material needs will be managed.
Including the berry farm with Ribunny Botan, Pengullet, and Tarantiss.
But, the world is still scary.
I'm just glad the nearby LV.17 Lunaris aren't normally aggressive.
But when that LV.18 Faleris comes around, it's time to teleport away from base, losing his aggro.
Strange.
I used the second randomizer option.
Most of the Pals that spawned in beginner area are between Lv.4 (Flopie) and Lv.25 (Cryolinx Terra).
Even the Tarantiss that spawned on the nearby hill were around Lv 7.
So, there seems to be a little bit of scaling, though not by a lot.
(Now the Alphas are outside that rule. The few I've come across are like Lv.59)
Either way, yeah, you're going to be doing a lot of running for your life, finding safe spots to get set up.
In my case, I got lucky there's a lot of Flopie in that area, who aren't a threat.
I actually tried to set up a workbench outside the small settlement, just to quickly whip up a few more Spheres.
As soon as I did, a Lv.17 Verdash spotted me and attacked. I ran in the settlement, but the PIDF guards didn't seem to care, not until I tricked the Verdash to accidentally hit one of the guards with an attack.
Whew... crisis averted.
And if I had Spheres at the time, I might have been able to snag a free Verdash.
Thankfully, it counts any alpha Chillet, not just one specifically marked.
(I'm still looking for one myself)
BUT, why are you looking for that one?? if you are trying to go into a tower or dungeon and it says "you must defeat... alpha chillet" it is NOT that pal, it is whatever is in the location it used to be.
You sure about that?
Because another time it asked me for a specific Pal, and just catching that species elsewhere in the world qualified.
The alpha spawns are randomized. (the sealed realms and normal alphas are on separate rotations) In my game it was at the "cryolynx terra" spawn location in southern feybreak
double damage taken
half damage dealt
80%xp
pal permadeath
player permadeath
probably some other settings differences, but those are the biggies
Took me a few tries to get stabalized, but I'm on my 7th attempt and I'm level 58.
getting to level 10 or so to get stabalized is brutal
getting to level 23 for metal armor is tough.
from there it hasn't been so bad.
eventually once you get past 30 or 40 the randomizer doesn't make it that much scarier, now it is just inconvenient that when I want to catch specific things (like getting chikipi with yakumo for specific traits) it is hard to find the one particular pal I'm searching for
So, I did finally find Lamball, east of the easy Oil Rig (close to where Alpha Katress arena normally is), so I'm set with Wool.
My problem now is, Eggs and Pal Fluids.
Eggs was tricky, but I bought a Chikpi from a merchant.
After checking the Palpedia, it turns out Chikpi spawn in at Sakurajima and the Feybreak area, so yikes.
Nothing like random Lv 45+ Pals to really discourage hunting for more Chikpi.
But Pal Fluid is tricky, as water Pals are kinda rare in this world, and I haven't encountered regular Kelpsea (whom you can use at the ranch to produce it).
So... I had to get creative.
I captured a wandering merchant who visited my base, as he sells Pal Fluid. Not ideal, but it'll do for now.

Plus, with a couple Mau in the ranch, they'll generate gold for that. And a couple partial dungeons runs, the lotus (S) in them sell for around 5,000 coins.
So, that's things like the hot springs, cement, and lettuce/tomato farms sorted for now.
